what was today like? were you out there with the
protesters?

a reporter asked bush today what it was like to have
millions of people hate you.. and referenced the thousands
protesting during his visit.. and he led off his
non-response by saying: "well, I don't know that they do!"
hah!

anyway.. what was today like

the atmosphere was understandably angry, but i didn't see
any violence, vandolism or general poor behaviour.

i was also glad people were able to see beyond ending the
occupation of Iraq, which would be totally irrisponsible at
this stage - they've gone in and made a mess, they need to
bloody well sort it out before they leave. people were
chanting about quantanamo bay, the kyoto agreement,
objections to the ridiculous demands made by the Bush
administration for his (unwelcome) visit etc.
It was very well attended: STWC estimated 150,000, the
police claimed 100,000.

Did you see the Bush/Blair press conference? I missed it as
I was marching - apparently it was just arse-licking and
evading the important issues from beginning to end.....

Nothing wrong with protesting as long as it doesn't decend
into violence.
