yeah it's good, a little embarassingly heroic sometimes but
but very good

FUCKING RAD

TRACK 8 IS one of my favourite songs ever

when the song totally changes at about 5:00 or something and
turns all..... amazing. i could die.

yeah 8 is my fav for sure, wicked climax at the end.
others are great too, fine album

one thing i love about track 8 is how the drummer goes off
at the end

cuz in every other song he plays sooooooo sloooow

if only we knew what he was saying...i read somewhere its a
made-up language

Track three always makes me incredibly emotional.

I bet next they'll do an r'n'b album backed with Hype
Williams videos though, as now they've won an MTVE award
which makes a pretty high standard for them to keep up to.

its good, but somehow i prefer agaetis byrjun :)

Yeah, 'hopelandish' is what I think they call it. On the
last album there was still plain icelandic (except for Olsen
Olsen) but ( ) is all hopelandish I think.

i liked agaetis byrjun better, personally... more variety
there, in my opinion.

ya it is made-up
if you go to the website and see the lyrics page, the lyrics
change to different words everytime you refresh it

its kind of a cool idea cuz some words sound like english if
you listen reeeel hard

OH YEAH But i noticed in every song, he only uses about
10-15 words slapped together diffferently. In my head i
hear him saying: you sat around the fire - you're so alone -
you're so.

ya

oh my goodness, I think this album is 10 times better then
Agaetis... I don't know, from the first listen when I bought
it, I knew this was something special... I can't understand
a thing the guy is saying, but damn it's gorgeous!

I can't wait to hear the Queens of the Stone Age remix of
Vaka/Untitled 1

That just sounds too fucked up to be anything less than
amazing. :)

something

i imagine "you sigh along" and "you saw the light" and in
that one song its pretty clear he says "don't fail, don't
you lie"

I don't get reviewers making such a big deal about the album
title, and lack of song titles... who cares? Since when is
it the songs titles that matter? It's the music... and you
either like it or hate it, but please don't waste a review
of an album talking about the lack of song titles...

I just read a few reviews which were like that... it's
stupid!!

Were those the same reviewers that never failed to mention
the record without adding 'glacier' or 'geysir' or
'volcanic' to the sentence?

YAYAYAY
sounds exact.

thats the one with the reeeeeeaaaaalllly slow drum beat

and on track 8 at the big "climax" part,
after it all comes together and he starts singing in his
really high voice - it sounds like he keeps repeating "don't
you see"

Sigur Ros are fucking amazing. On my first hearing of ( ) I
thought it had such a slow feeling to it.... Still want to
hear the Sigur Ros and Radiohead collaboration. :)

there is no sigur ros\radiohead collaboration.

anyways, yeah sigur ros are very good, ive had von on my
computer for more than a year but havent listened to it yet,
just skimmed it.

i also agree with everyone else about track 8 on (),
especially the ending, simply awesome.

the sigur ros\radiohead collaboration is a fake from what i
remember.

Yeah it's a good release but I never liked how they stopped
singing in Icelandic and began singing this so-called
Hopelandish. The music has much more feeling if the text
means something, for me at least.

Flugufrelsarinn is a brilliant song and if you understand
the lyrics it's an ever better song.

I saw a concert on mtv over a year ago and the guy was
singing into his frigging guitar pick-up~ hence the ghostly
effect.

Sigur Ros and Radiohead did both contribute to a music/dance
piece called split sides a while ago, but I guess it
doesn't really count as a collaboration as they didn't make
any music together.

i also like this album a lot. it makes me think of radiohead
meeting godspeed you! black emperor...
my favourite track on () is the last one...

apparently their next one will be more 'pop.' we'll see how
that turns out.

maybe, but I'd say it's fair to say that the majority of
Sigur Ros's fans in the world can't understand even the
straight Icelandic songs... so, I guess the music is
powerful enough... I don't need to know what the guy is
saying, cause it just sounds so beautiful... and when songs
are vague as to their exact meaning, it's better imo,
because you can apply it to many situations...

Extremely good album. And it's enough "quiet" to listen to
when studying, writing a paper, and so on.

more pop would just be the style on ( ) with shorter songs
and more complex melodies. i'm all for that.

offline Atli from Reykjavík (Iceland) on 2003-11-20 10:27 [#00958398]
Points: 1309 Status: Lurker

Yeah it's powerful enough I guess and the fact that ()
hasn't got any icelandic lyrics doesn't make it a worse
album. It's just a bit irritating... For those who didn't
understand it in the first place, and even can't here that
big of a difference, it doesn't matter i guess.

It's a great album. I haven't listened to it in ages, but
not because I'm bored of it... I just want to save up some
energy so I can really sit down and cherish the moment some
day when the weather and mood is right.

''the style on ( ) with shorter songs
and more complex melodies. i'm all for that.''

I'm all for that too.

yeah, I don't listen to it that much either... not because I
get bored, but because it's so intense for me... this is
some of the most emotional music in my cd collection... so,
I can't listen to it all the time, cause I'll be too
depressed and shit! :)
