release another album as polygon..?

supremacy II is nicely wicked.
and Quino-phec is my savior.

listening to the last track after a day of
snowboarding...driving down from the slopes...such a good
memory. listening to that album any time in the winter is
very soothing.

At first I was well disappointed. I thought it was shit
techno. But now it's one of those albums I go back to about
once every month or two. Just played Polygon Window on my
radio show today actually.

I love almost (if not) all of the tracks. But I haven't got
the reissue so I don't know about Redruth School or the
other one. Considered buying it again for those two tracks
but then I thought I might be being a bit of an Aphex
worshipper.

Bought this today. Maybe it's just the name, but I was
expecting something more like Caustic Window.
I'm only on UT1 - dot at the moment, but this reminds me of
SAW85-92 more than Caustic.
Although UT1 - dot reminds me of Amber, actually.

i don't like it much at all. i've given it a few good
listens, so i guess it's just not my thing. :-\

i personally love this album.
i've had it a good few years now and i keep coming back to
it. every time it sounds just as fresh as the first.
the insistent techno rhythms are worlds away from the hectic
percussion of richard's later aphex twin releases. the
skewed melodies are beautiful. the textures of the record
are really evocative. close your eyes and you can almost
see the stark but beautiful landscapes of cornwall. it seems
unlikely, but every listen reveals more. i find it really
atmospheric. that beautiful sound somewhere between ambient
and techno.
other than aphex twin, its my favourite alias that rich has
released under. and i rate 'surfing on sine waves' higher
than some of the aphex twin records.
but no one else who's posted yet on this thread (with the
possible exception of ziggomatic) seems to share my
enthusiasm.

It's one of my favourite CD's. It definitely is one of those
albums that reveals more elements the more you listen. Which
is surprising at first, because initially it seems to
primitive.

peaceful feeling), Supremacy II, Redruth School and
Quino-Phec are my faves.

Just thought I'd mention that.

its been twelve years since polygon window - i think richard
has moved on since then.
best leave it as it is.

no point revisiting something thats already complete as it
is.

It's the first aphex I heard back in 93 and therefore it
still makes total sense to me today,it's been nice to hear
the progression.I can imagine anyone who hears it after just
discovering "Come to daddy" or something is going to think
"Is that the same person" but it has some beautiful
tracks-polygon window is a favourite of course and
UT1-dot,untitled(7) and quixote seem to work perfectly as a
trilogy. It has a mysterious atmosphere throughout to me and
because it was done on hardware gear he may or may not have
built himself, has an analogue feel he hasn't quite captured
since. It's from a time when the rumours and lies and his
reclusivness was more interesting. The story about the spilt
orange juice on the master tapes is interesting.I don't know
if anyone else has ever noticed this but during "Quixote"
there is a tiny bit where the sound drops out(just after the
5 minute mark)as if the master was damaged in some way. It's
on every copy I've ever heard. And I really wish that more
tracks from those sessions had been uncovered,I for one
don't believe that only 2 outtakes exist, damn him for
shrugging his shoulders and saying "em,just use those 2"
from the first tape he found.Grr!:)

By intelligently utilizing 4 dummy hand grenades, a 40
gallons of slightly alcoholic bolivian vodka and no less
than 17 demolotion cranes, I have reserved one hour slots
for all dissident members with leading torture experts and
psychiatrists.

Following this healthy treatment I hope you will all happily
murmer along with me as I chant about the subdued polyphonic
glories of quixote, the meandering violence of good ol'
untitled track 7, and the driven introspection of UT1-Dot.

infidels.

I heard Polygon Window in that Autechre Breezeblock set, it
reminded me I had been neglecting this album. It is really
interesting. The sounds are so fuzzy and warm, it is one of
his best albums, I could see how some could argue it is the
best one.

it's statements like those which caused me to throw you out
of the ~90th floor of a building.

It's very nice soothing music, but also with good
development. Not as eclectic as other output but still
interesting.

My wife and I are arguing as to whether "Is it Really Me"
(track 04) is a direct rip-off of Nadia's Theme (theme from
the Young and the Restless). It certainly seems to sound
like that song, but who knows. Can anybody shed some light?

this used to be my favourite.. its not now, but of course I
love it... I like more harsh aphex now... but anyway its
nice the old sound and sweet charm this album has

no weak track (even with quoth in it)... perfect flow...
solid and nice

while driving - but to be honest its not that good. The
title track is a lot like SAW85-92
