So I was thinking my IBM laptop's 4200rpm HD was shitty and slow. Witness my surprise when I was browsing new Powerbooks and saw that they had 4200rpm drives as well. So, do you just replace them (is it even possible?), or do musician's use external drives?
You'd expect a laptop for 2500-3k USD and beyond to have something better.
Atleast it gave me some hope about my IBM. Maybe 4200rpm isn't that bad, apart from the fact that it feels really sluggish in the real world.
(HD rpms and seek times are of importance if you plan on doing multitrack harddisk recording on it)

Do you mean for the Powerbooks or in general? PC and Mac?
There are plenty of external drives at those speeds and up to 10k, but they're larger than 2.5". I also noticed it's possible to buy an external USB HD bay, for 3.5" drives(Vipower or something).
