condoleances... T_T

i absolutely hate when this kind of thing happens. : (
i want to kill myself when this kind of thing happens to me,
most of the time (and then it goes better after a few
days/weeks when the problem is solved).......

sometimes i just plug off everything and sleep and go
outside and don't touch my computer for a few days when it
(my computer) goes berserk.

Erronous > O_O

eh. must have been good old amplifier, then... if it lasted
that long... probably nowadays you won't find one lasting
that long. (or maybe i'm just pessimistic, i know fuck all
about amplifiers)

i personally wouldn't mind AT ALL if my computer headphones
cd player etc. would last for 40 years!! ; )

Morton: Open up the case and check no fuses have gone. They
tend to go on 70's amps. If it is anything more complicated
you will need tools and knowledge.

i did! and indeed they broke (inside), but i'm affraid
something else is wrong too so that if i replace'em they
will 'break' right again
i had that with an other old amp. too

Well that's bad :-/
Don't you work at Phillips anymore? Maybe you can "borrow"
one from them ;-)

I hope you're doing okay without being able to listen to
music though... I wonder how long it would take for me to go
crazy without music..

i wish i lived in norway :-/

It's been so long since we've had some really good snow over
here. I remember from my childhood i would actually build
snowpuppets and have snowballfights... a thick carpet of
snow.

But that's years ago. Nowadays we usually only get 2 or 3
days of snow in the winter, and it always melts right away
:-(

Did you work in electronics at Phillips? I work as an
electronic engineer apprentice, but, even I could give an
Amp a good shot. If its old, and if its been putting out a
lot of power, it may have given up the ghost, or it may have
overheated, try checking the thermal overload circuit, or
looking for charred or blackened dead components. Check all
the output transistors, they should be the big heafty ones.
Look on the internet for data sheets, or use your finger on
them to see if any are considerable hotter than the others,
bear in mind ones with heatsinks are bound to run hot, but
if it is a push-pull, then if one is symetrical to another,
or v.v.similar, yet 10x hotter,i.e. burns flesh, its probly
dead... Check the PSU, make sure all supply rails are
working.(you should probly do this 1st)Just check for
something obvious, check the fuse(it happens). You will
probably need a DVM / multimeter / some kind of
volt/ohm/ammeter or something. Check the wiring for shorts,
like the input/output hasnt worked loose, and grounded to
the chassis. hope some of this makes sense.good luck.

hey thanks for all that advice :) i'll give it a shot
tomorrow.

i didn't work in electronics at philips though, but in the
chemistry department; coatings, inks and the development of
flexible lcd displays were the main things i worked on

shame!

"and i think i'm already going crazy actually.. :D"

Nah, but i meant even crazier than usual ;-)

" that's a really cool avatar you got there mister"

Thanks! I'm kinda dissapointed by it myself. Stupid
12kb-limitations :-/

I first tested out an animation with only the normal picture
of george. And it could handle 4 frames (4 exactly the same
frames, just the regular picture) and still be below 12kb.

After that i added the snow... and then for some reason the
file became bigger. It was exactly 12,0 kb large. But
xltronic wouldn't accept it :-o "file too big!".

So i had to remove one of the frames :-/
It's only 3 frames now. Originally the snow came down a
little smoother :-p But since no-one saw the original 4frame
version, they probably won't notice ;-)
