New Underworld Anthology

Today I walkedinto my local record store to be greeted by
something new from underworld,.. at first glance it looked
like a "best of" and I thought ot myself "this'll probably
be crap" and then I proceeded to look at the track
listing,.. and to my astonishment, they've included all of
the rarites, originals, and other stuff you'd otherwise not
be able to get,.

there's artwork (poster) on the inside (on both cd and
vinyl,.. but the vinyl one is poster size >:) )

and the artwork is some of the best stuff I've seen come
from tomato art in a long long long time

the album starts out with some tracks from when they were
using the alter ego "lemon heads" (a name they used in the
transitional phase form underworld mk1 (old 80's synth pop)
to underworld mk2 (smith/hyde/emerrson)) the starter track
opens with some "harmonica electro" and then goes into the
early version track "dirty" which features some notable
samples fomr both "dirty epic" and "dark and long"
and then quickly rolls into some more familiar tracks, soon
after is spikee,.. which I think is one of the greatest and
original underworld tracks ever made,.. and is worth buying
the record for alone

the rest of the album is a well selected best of, although
later into it they slapped in "8 ball" another previously
hard to come by track,.. and another great song you would
otherwise never hear

this album is the perfect introduction to get anyone into
underworld,.. and a gem for any underworld fan,.. I have
the artwork up on my wall at the moment,.. and it looks so
good it's making everything look ugly

i'd always thought they called themselves Lemon Interrupt
and not "lemon heads"

It's a good collection, and I've bought it if I didn't
already have all but the last two tracks. I'd have liked to
see a comp with their remixes on, especially the vinyl-only
ones.
And grm is right, they were Lemon Interrupt.
I also spotted a double-part Born Slippy nuxx ep today. The
words "milking" and "it" sprang to mind. I already have the
original single and the double part second edition. I think
I'll pass on a third.

All my mates say, "Oh look Underworld! You like them don't
you?"
And I say "Where did you get that idea?"
And they say "Well, it's underground electronic music."
And I say "WHATTHEFUCKAREYOUTALKINGABOUT!"

They are a good overground techno band, but they're limited.
I can't help feeling like they've reached about twelve dead
ends.
