i recommend that you use cool edit pro instead, cos imo its
better, easier to use, and looks nicer.

for the mp3's, try locating the codec using preferences or
options or something, if it uses an external codec. If it is
an internal codec....well i dunno. Id imagine it would use
something like a fraunhoffer-ILS codec under license or a
bladeEnc codec???I really dunno.
perhaps email the techsupport, who would happily help, if
you were a registered user ;) or just get something free
like bladeEnc.

the mp3 plugin needs it's own crack.

you can only make about 50 mp3s for free.

however - if you reinstall SF completely it should work
again.

um, I have heard.. :P

oh god that really isn't true - SF is SOOOO easy to use!!

really. it has an extremely easy interface, you can make
simple stuff really quickly and just easy evolve into harder
stuff.

nah i dont think the interface is particularly good. ive got
copies of sf and cooleditpro from 1999 i think, maybe
earlier, and so im judging from that, but for example, ive
got tons of direct x plugins, which cool displays as
submenus under a menu from the bar at the top, whereas sf
has about a dozen menus at the top which you pull down which
are full of plugins, in a almost correct, but not quite
order. annoying! to be fair, sf is a good program, in the
end of the day its down to personal choice (note the imo)
but yeah i agree sf is easy to use, but cooledit is easier,
with respect to the way i work. generally its the things
like the large vertical vu on sf against the smaller
horizontal vu on cool, which seem better, and also (at least
on my copies) sf has no noise reduction whereas cooledit has
a quite nice one, anyway, like i said, its 6 of one and half
a dozen of the other, dont take my word for it, try for
yourself!

I use soundforge 6 exclusively as my wave editor. but i use
musicmatch jukebox to do all my wave to mp3 converting so
this registration thing has never really been a problem for
me.

I agree it's an easy program to use though i've never really
used anything else so i don't know if other programs would
be easier. i like the chain effects thing and the ability
to use the same host of effects on any sound file you want
very easily. and it runs very nice with Acid Pro 4 which i
use exclusively for most of my sequencing and composition.

so yeah

i think it's dope.

when did sf7.0 com out? i gotta get me some dat shizzt.

I use 7.0 too.

it's been taken over by Sony, so it's now Sony SoundForge..

so is it worth it for me to upgrade? i really have no
complaints with 6.0 and i'm lazy so if it's not really worth
it, i don't want to go looking for it.

you probably don't need to, no.

biggest addition is that you now can "program" a chain of
effects, like a macro.

something else. maybe.
