Kid A vs. Amnesiac?

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2001-11-23 21:59 [#00055075]

Which one do you like best?

Kid A is awesome, but I think I like Amnesiac the best right
now... but they're both awesome albums...

Clobe Smith from over here on 2001-11-23 22:04 [#00055080]

i love amnesiac, but i LOOOOOVE kid a.

so yeah, kid a

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2001-11-23 22:04 [#00055081]

I really like the song Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors... it's
freaky...

Aron? from Canada on 2001-11-23 22:16 [#00055083]

i think kid a kicks amnesiac's ass

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2001-11-23 22:23 [#00055085]

yeah, I suppose you are right... Amnesiac is awesome
though...

teapot / vi scose poise from yeesland on 2001-11-23 22:25 [#00055086]

they are both equally amazing, but kid a has the edge
because of the amazing artwork

Aron? from Canada on 2001-11-23 23:07 [#00055100]

jesus.
i'm listening to Motion Picture Soundtrack right now.
i've forgotten how beautiful that song is.

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2001-11-23 23:16 [#00055101]

you know, people talk about how inaccessible Kid A is, but I
found it super catchy and accessible the first time I
listened to it...

Aron? from Canada on 2001-11-23 23:16 [#00055102]

as did i

beetlebum on 2001-11-24 00:37 [#00055113]

Kid A kills Amnesiac..
its just incredible as a full album..
where Amnesiac i think has a few stronger songs, the poor
ones (Pulk, Hunting Bears) drag it down..

Korben Dallas from + on 2001-11-24 00:49 [#00055115]

I don't know, after listening to Kid A and thinking it was
ok and then not really listening to Amnesiac, my instinctual
sort of response was to go ... yeah .. Amnesiac is da shit -
or like da shittier than Kid A ..

But then I listened to Kid A again, and sort of forgot why I
would think that anyway. So I reckon Kid A comes out top at
the end of the day.

But I think both albums are more a sort of personal
exploration for Radiohead, which from a WArp point of view
is quite lame at times - inaccessability inaccesaschmility
... But from the rock perspective it is at least a nice
attempt at something different.

I sort of reckon they were getting at the BoC groove, but
like the song Kid A or so - really reminds me [a little bit]
of Funny Man ? or like you know, Some Come To Daddy Mix ..

feRVour from here on 2001-11-24 01:52 [#00055118]

kid a. definately. but amnesiac still rules.

ross on 2001-11-24 02:35 [#00055123]

i like amnesiac, but it seems like a broken picture..parts
of it are beautiful, but it's not as coherent as kid a..And
Kid a has idioteque and morning bell..personal favorites (as
well as EEIRP)

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2001-11-24 02:59 [#00055130]

nah, I think Kid A and Amnesiac were them walking out into
the pool of electronica to there knees or so... the next
album I expect will be much more electronica... I hope...
Kid A and Amnesiac were just a bit of dabbling... I heard
Thom Yorke say once in an interview refering to Kid A
something along the lines of "This album is crap compared to
some of what I listen to... it's just a dabble, but we are
going to go further"... so it sure seems like they plan on
going all out with electronica...

Korben Dallas from + on 2001-11-24 06:48 [#00055189]

Although Kid A and Amnesiac were the same "sessions" it sort
of seems like Amnesiac was quite a bit less electronicky or
so ?

Clobe Smith from over here on 2001-11-24 07:05 [#00055190]

i heard something similar concerning tom saying kid a was
crap, but in the lines of being experimental and odd. how
everyone was calling it completely different and he made a
comment about how "you should hear what we've been listening
too."

jupiter from kansas on 2001-11-24 16:16 [#00055234]

Kid a is their best album, it will always be a classic ! ! !

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-11-24 19:32 [#00055267]

Kid A steered me to Aphex, so it's special.

Frothbottom from New York on 2001-11-24 19:40 [#00055268]

I like 'em both.

Bogus on 2001-11-25 18:54 [#00055399]

amnesiac is not that great... i dunno why there's not magic
in it... even thoug some tracks in it are like the best
tracks they've done

Scary Bear on 2001-11-25 19:02 [#00055402]

If think theres shit loads of magic in the album.

Friends frequently find me curled up in a ball smiling,
while listening to Spinning Plates. I think I'm the only
person that doesnt have a preference out of the two. I feel
like getting off my arse for a bit when I listen to Kid A.
Amnesiac, I think, is better apreciated in the dark, sitting
on a comfortable bed after a fat shottie session. These
albums have their own individual characters so you can't
really compare them. es, they were made at the same time.
But it doesn't mean shit, Radiohead still made a distinct
seperation between the songs.

Um, that is all.

work well as a double album. would it've been better as two
CDs on one album? the book for amnesiac kicks muh ass so
its the better one...

pyramid song is like the best song ever.....

but then again so is every song radiohead have ever done.

they shud have put the song 'cuttooth' onto Amesiac, i love
that song.

i dont think radiohea dare going all-out electronic, thom
yorke says he misses guiatrs.

they start recording new stuff next month apparently. I for
one can't wait!! consistantly original and wicked band

Pyramid Song, Knives Out, Dollars and Cents, I Might Be
Wrong, YAWArmy... some of my fave Radiohead tracks EVER. But
the rest of the album bores me.

Kid A, I love EVERY track, except Treefingers. It's a near
perfect album, and like I said waaaayyyy up there somewhere,
it's special because it guided me to Aphex Twin!

i REALLY like pyramid song..

...but i guess all in all i like kid A more...

these days though, i listen to their new live CD more than
either album

heh, this is an older message... ummm, Kid A is the best in
my opinion now... although both are excellent... can't wait
till a new Radiohead release...

I really can't decide. They're both so good. Each one has
a quintissential song that i could not live without - Kid A
has how to disappear completely, while Amnesiac has Pyramid
Song. Both discs rock.

Yeah, it took me a while to get in to treefingers, but after
I started listening to SAWII it made a lot mroe sense to me.
By the way, does anybody else here really like the song Kid
A? I love it

sorry for the "bump" or whatever it's called, but is anyone
else worried that radiohead is going to "pull a weezer" and
are going to suck now. i all ready think ok computer is
perfect, kid a is, without a doubt, my favorite album,
amnesiac is great (even though i wasn't really expecting
much from it), and i've never really been impressed by live
albums (though i do like this one).

... i dunno, i'm just rambling. when kid a came out, i
compared it to pink floyd. what do you after you release
dark side of the moon (ok computer)? follow it up with
another great album (wish you were here/kid a).

argh, i'm tired ... not making any sense to me. i guess all
i'm trying to say is, what on earth will they do after kid
a?

i guess richard hates kid a. thats what heard. and
radiohead was influenced by him to to make kid a. "ouch"

I don't think there are any solid laws in the world
creativity. There is no reason Radiohead can't produce
another fine piece of album. There will always be more
great music to make.

Not that they can't flop, but whether or not they do has
nothing to do with past musicians. It's all specific to
them.

i dunno amnesiac seemed a continuation of kid a IMO....i
think they shoulda just released a big opus and combined the
two CD's. i dunno maybe they wanted to release something
right away, and then work on some tracks....i dunno. but
whatever the reasons, i love both CD's.

Amnesiac is just a better CD IMO, love every piece of it =0)

don't get me wrong, i have full confidence that radiohead
will release another great album. but after anticipating
the new weezer album (green) after an album i loved
(pinkerton) and to be thoroughly dissapointed ... ya, just a
little apprehensive about it. ya know?

Radiohead. Just listen to that word. Repeat it to yourself.

Kid A seems better to me, but I think that's just because of
wot was happening while I was listening to it.
