ever feel emotionally frustrated by the restrictions of
electronica ?

how close have you come to picking up a mic and writing
"songs*"

*i am no way saying that an electronic composition is not a
song... i just mean vocals and shit

i think if i had hardcore fans, i would be hung drawn and
quartered for writing the jazz / loungy / electronica that
im currently writing...

There are no restrictions in electronica.

thats why its good to actually write in other styles :)

I like to write in "classical" styles... orchestral
instruments etc... its just, completely different from
electronica.

I have always wondered what I could come up with, writing a
"pop" song. Not really pop... but like... rock. Verse chorus
kinda stuff. When I have more time I will...

if I ever had fans that got pissed off at me for writing in
different styles... Id say to hell with them. Who the fuck
are they to tell you what you can write or not?

People get too possesive with their favorite music.

ok... let me rephrase this...

ok... do you feel frustrated doing INSTRUMENTAL music... and
how close do you come to picking up a mic and recording
vocals.. (proper coherant vocals) for your tracks.

me myself, im scared of mics, but im overcoming it out of
necessity... i need to say what i need to say...
instrumentals used to be enough, but now they just arent

im with you on that one zues... i guess what im asking here,
is about verse chorus verse kind of stuff...

well, I am writing a track right now, and Im gonna add
vocals... but its going to be a female singer instead.

I know my voice sucks. I can sing the notes, but I just dont
have a good singing voice... so I rather just get someone
who can actually sing good, to sing.

Hey, its still my music, my lyrics...

yeah that's my problem most of the stuff i write is just
trying to impress people, it's bullshit to be honest.

i like doing it though.

i'm just never gonna lie and say that i only make it for
myself coz i just really want to entertain people. in
different ways, which is why i write an lj that's always
trying to be funny rather than just notes to myself. it's
also why i draw people pictures when i'm at their houses --
that kind of shit.

it's really dumb and i know that but hey i never said i
wasn't.

Ha ha, confession time: I nearly dated a girl I wasn't that
fussed over, simply because she was a great jazz singer and
I thought I could use her on my tracks.

"Where did it all go wrong"? It is such a crappy student
band, bad recording, HORRIBLLY out of tune singer...

"where did it all go wrong, were we destined to loss all

I write under three names, one for ambient, one for
glitchy/noise/IDM stuff, one for guitar-based songs. It's
the only way I can stay focussed.

i dont see an y restrictions in electronica. i get all of
the emotion i want out of the songs i write.

on the other hand i do like to write songs with lyrics as
well, although they are completely different than what i
normally write.

i never feel restricted by instrumental music
its easier ive found
you dont have to make a profound statement in your songs
that lyrics contain

i have two new works in progresses, for xanpha... my friend
greg said one sounded like a motown track and the other one
was perfect circley... hmmm... i was wondering when my soul
and rnb influences would start appearing :)

ill post them in a few days... i couldnt record vocals last
night because of noise restrictions (i live in an apartment
block)

ontopic.. im very absorbed in what i do, what sounds do to
each other etc..

so yeah lot of what i do will be left when it has achieved a
sound.. then ill move on. its been accumulating for some
time tho and i think im getting rather good at it :]

what it comes down to is that a lot of my music is very
personal - and i dont expect it to be widely embraced. those
times that it has been appreciated in live situations, i
wont forget !

yeah... i see what you mean, all my old xanpha stuff has
been written from the heart. and i've always managed to put
my feelings into sound... but it doesnt feel like enough
anymore / or it feels like it could be so more. and i think
my move into songwriting also offers something new and
exciting for me personally.
