Happiness is a good filmbecause it is honest. It displays a
side of human nature that typical Hollywood films would
never want to show. Some people just have deep-seated
problems and can be very fucked up because of it. The more
you cover up that fact, the more messed up things become.
It's very healthy that movies like Happiness exist. It makes
you more socially aware to the problems that face people
living in today's isolated society.

It was recorded. I've seen about 45 minutes so far.....most
of it has made me cringe.. I don't know whether I'm enjoying
it or what....

it's hard to take the argument "happiness is a good film
because it's honest and makes people more socially aware"
seriously when the majority of opinions expressed here seem
to be a variation on "the neverending humiliation and pain
that the characters (and the viewers) endure is hilarious!"
if you found yourself with an expanded social awareness and
saw your capacity for compassion and acceptance of other
people enhanced by your viewing of this film, i think that
*you* are to be congratulated, and not the film.

i will admit that i always find something amusing on
america's funniest home videos. although generally the
crotch slamming action isn't my favorite part. i like
little kids being chased by dachshunds and cats falling off
of televisions on which they were sleeping...

i must've missed the afv with the sexual assault, suicide
and pedophile clips. ; )

they don't dare, eh? what purpose would that serve,
anyway?

are you trying to say that "happiness" exists to fill the
void left by leaving that material out of afv?

certainly you see that that so-called void is filled in
conspicously elsewhere? and that what's missing from afv
are not secrets? and that afv could never purport to
present a complete picture of human daily life?

and why none of this illustrates a success that can be
attributed to the film?
