here's a thing i did
you gotta right click and save target as to download

it started off as ambient then i added a little drums to it.

8 - bit 4EVA!!

I like the drums, they sound pretty interesting!
the riff for the slow string thingy sounds like the cure's -
"forest" track tho.

:O

Kinda reminds me of either journey to reedham or the dr who
theme.

I like this a lot... but the drums don't really work... i'd
keep it ambient and short or go for some real evil 200bpm
drill.

yeah the problem with sid chip technology is you can't
adjust the bpm

I guessed that mighta been the case if you were doing an
entirely 8-bit track... up to you, but if you could lay down
the 8-bit melody n harmonies etc on some sort of drill
track, i'd probably explode with joy. Or something.

yeah i've also thought about making a track a little slow
and then doubling the speed...

hey i dig this. it's simple but fuck man it's catchy. i
think you should throw a sampled breakbeat or two on top of
it, maybe some cheap loud 8-bit drums too - keep it going at
the same tempo it is, just throw some nice breakbeats over
it.

very nicely done. i wouldn't mind making stuff like this
eventually. in fact, this is a sound i've been wanting to
pursue for a while.

anyways, good stuff, nigel. i enjoyed it.

from you of the melodies in here? i'd like to do some things
with this....

Aah this is beautiful. Really nice when the track thickens
out with additional layers.

It isn't downloading for me. But the fact that it's 8-bit
and it ''sounds like the Cure's Forest track'' makes me want
to hear it like soooo bad.

I downloaded Goat tracker and made a pattern. Fuck that
program is weird (and I used to be a tracker wizkid in
90-91). I got sound out of it, once I figured I needed some
gate bits. In the end it sounded like that walking in snow
sound by Ae.

How do you record the output into MP3s? I might try to learn
this thing a little better.

Also, I've made a few SID emulations on the Nord Modular
today. It definately sounds C64/NES like, but it's easy to
do stuff the SID really can't do.

i connected my laptop to the microphone input on my big
computer and recorded it

if you need any help with goattracker i could probably give
you some hints

Someone here had a great program that could record any audio
being played into MP3s.

There's so much I'm confused about, the channel orderlist
thingy (RST00), the whole wavetbl and notetbl section and
the filter step thingy-majingy. If there's something
specific I'll ask.

it's easy you use goldwave (or any audio recording program)
and xp and go to your volume control and select recording
then select Stereo Mix and it will record whatever's being
played.

I tried the soundrecorder in XP Pro. I went to
www.music70.com, but it doesn't record anything. I've
selected "Wave" in the volume control.

do you use a PC? just use a Microsoft Soundrecorder, use the
one that comes with the comp, and just record from the main
output, just playing that....

offline Paco from Gothenburg (Sweden) on 2003-11-08 19:21 [#00941679]

It's (MS soundrecorder) not picking up anything from the
soundcard. I know it can record from CDs, but any other
sound is left unrecorded.

(yes I use a PC, hence the "XP pro" bit)
