Is it 'Afex' or 'Apex'?

Matt W from NYC on 2001-11-22 20:09 [#00054597]

I always thought it was pronounced 'Afex' Twin, but recently
a friend I've heard someone say it was 'Apex.' Is that true?
Thanks.

how do you say:
telephone, aphid, xylophone?

"telepone, apid, xylopone"

Therefore it is Apex Twin

i support phitchix's view.
"ph" is pronounced " f "
Give me a reason why not!

Fresch from Trondheim, Norway on 2001-11-23 00:16 [#00054686]

i can't believe you're discussing how Aphex Twin is
pronounced....

'cor.

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2001-11-23 00:26 [#00054695]

I think it's pronounced "Ape" "Hex" as in an Ape being hexed
or something... it's the only logical explanation...

how does everyone pronounce autechre ?

i say OR-TEK-A

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2001-11-23 01:51 [#00054727]

in case you people didn't guess, I was being extremely
sarcastic, making fun of newbies I guess (although I'm
really a newbie myself, but I know a nice bit about RDJ)...
I guess next time I should write

******SARCASM ALERT******

so I can get your attention...

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2001-11-23 01:52 [#00054728]

now about the Autechre pronounciation, I have wondered about
that... but I read somewhere that they themselves pronounce
it A-Tek-er, so, that's how I pronounce it...

i told my mate too check the out at our local record store i
sez on the pone to him "did you check out autechre?" and
he's like "they didnt have any man" and i sez "huh? where
were you looking?" and he's like "under 'O' for Ortekker"
and im like "You is whack and incompetant white boy"

blue_clax from Alberta, Canada on 2001-11-23 02:19 [#00054737]

Well considering the first disk he put out was called AFX.
Its only natural that it would be (pho·neti·cal·ly of
course) a ·fx ·Twin.

Xanatos from NYC on 2001-11-23 02:47 [#00054745]

I fuckin' hate the word 'newbie'.

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-11-23 03:03 [#00054748]

A-phex, you dig?

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-11-23 03:03 [#00054749]

And the phex is pronounced more as ''fix''.
Yeah-fix.
A-phex.

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2001-11-23 03:07 [#00054753]

I still think its Ape-Hex, but I suppose by some small
margin I could be wrong...

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2001-11-23 03:07 [#00054755]

I kinda like it... Newbie sounds nice...

Afux from Afox on 2001-11-23 03:13 [#00054758]

aPHLex twin ..

just like rePHLex .

isn't autechre : Aw-tekk-er which i guess is reasonably
similar to Or-tekk ...

I mean, if you take the Au from Audio
the Tech from Technology/olical or some shit.
then the only weird thing kind of is the er - from research
.. but i guess.. it is like the metre meter thing ..

?

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-11-23 03:17 [#00054761]
