what is the marijuana policy there? my friends and i want to go up there next summer but we aren't really sure on the law about marijuana. can anyone help? |

I suppose, given my experience with the drug, that it would be fairly easy to come across 'dealers'. Granted, that would depends upon where you're going. |

they haven't really changed the policy yet... but generally speaking, the cops just don't give a shit... because they have bigger fish to fry... avoid doing it in some very public place (particularly if it's not like a joint that you can finish before authorities would have time to respond to some WASP who complained).. but other than that... it ain't nothin' to worry about... unless it's a small town and the cops are lame... as far as acquiring it goes... it'd probably be pretty easy.... just chat someone up in a bar or sumpin' ... otherwise, just find a hook up on here... there's a fair amount of us Canadians spread about this board... |

Cops bust you for beer not weed here. Well you can get in shit for weed but more people get in shit for drinking in public. A guy I know got fined 80$ at the bootlegger on halloween and they took 56$ worth of beer away from him too lol! But yeah Weed is pretty easy to find, on the east coast anyway. Our beer is fantastic too, |

hang out at the train stations. lotsa traffic there. and anytime i stand around for more than 15 minutes at the 7th ave station here someone is BOUND to offer you something. and yeah...i'm under the impression that it's not a big deal at all. but then, i don't smoke...so. dunno. *shrugS* |

well. i know that it's grown like crazy there and people always talk a lot about "the weed in british columbia". so...i guess it's supposed to be great. i dunno. but yeah, like everyone has said, most people just turn the other cheek. "bigger fish to fry" as dr. deadeight says. |

god, the US government wonders where we can get more cash so they just raise taxes - morons. If they just stopped arresting people for pot (convicting people, it really does no harm) and just enforce limitations like we do on alcohol, there'd be millions of extra tax dollars for the US to use to blow up the next country that blows a foul breath their way. Shows how smart Canada is not to worry about it. :D |

heres the deal...... 1. getting weed especially in the west is easyyyyy as all fuckin hell, its everywhere. plus its always really good bud. 2. canada grows and supplies some of the worlds top weed, its literally the bomb. 3. if you get caught with less than 30 grams of pot (just over an ounce, which goes for about 150-200 depending mainly on quality). its a fine or ticket you get on the spot and ofcourse your shit gets taken away, happened a few times to me. 4. usually cops if they catch you smokin one here will just tell you to put it out and not do that in public places and what not... they dont really give a shit about it, cause its really no problem. 5. marijuana culture in canada, especially the west were most of us are is huge, bong shops every fuckin where you go man... its in. |

Hence why I'm moving to Canada. Seriously, the US can blow me with its oppression. I don't do anyone any harm when I light up, whereas there are drunk boyfriends and husbands hitting their wives and children every night all across America. What a fucking joke. But as far as B.C. goes, my two best friends are from there, and as their older brother has told me, it is more or less legal, you only get fined for having a lot, and if you grow all they do is take your plants if they find them. |

what part of canada are you going to? ever do shrooms? If you go to B.C., you'll definately be able to find some bomb ass shrooms, but you wouldnt want to ask around for those like you would for weed, I'd wait until you've found a "dealer" and then start asking. |

Yeah, easy enough to come by ( in the west anyway) and it's not legal, but it's not exactly illegal either. The most recent 'big step forward' for the marijuana movement was the decriminalization of possession of less than (is it 30 grams?). Quite a lot anyway, and you only get a lame ticket, rather than a criminal charge, a court date, and a criminal record, which is nice for all concerned. If your going to Vancouver (Canada's Amsterdam if you will), it's not legal, but it's so commonplace that many just smoke up on the streets, and I was offered dope (and speed and crack BTW) on more than one occasion by perfect strangers, so it's easy to get. Hope that clears some things up. |
