alright, moving my replies from the other thread:

I want to speak of this album, because i was listening to
an Aphex Twin mix - Live at ATP - and i heard him spin
Dedicated Loop and realized that this is a Squarepusher
album that doesn't receive much talk.

I love the beginning of freeway.

Snake Pass is a little too 'techno-rave' for me.

another moved thread:
some of the bonus tracks (the tracks w/ Ceephax) are
interesting too. Especially Schizm Track 2.

i remember trying to sleep with this album playing, and the

first fucking bonus tracks woke me the FUCK up with that
loud ass horn.

mappatazee: yeah, it is, but i just like the darkness to it.
And the Ceephax mix is stellar.

Yes, Tom can always make it pretty good though :D

damn this is one well-polished album - you ALWAYS hear
people talk about either Feed Me Weird Things or Budakhan
Mindphone, but never this one. Then again, Squarepusher's
music is a continuously evolving body.

Square Rave is a decent dancable, too.

Nah, I haven't spoken to Matt in a while yet. I really
should do soon, the single's nearly completed, I think.

I think I definitely prefer Squarepusher's
weird/experimental/fusion stuff to his drum'n'bass. The
pre-Rotted Note stuff doesn't appeal to me at all.

Oh, I enjoy Music is Rotted One Note as well! My Sound is
easily one of my favourite Tom J songs EVER - it's just i
think Selection Sixteen is underrated.

this was the first sq cd i bought, and i was kind of
disappointed though there were a few tracks that i really
liked a lot. square rave, dedicated loop, and tomorrow world
are 3 of my favorite sq tracks.

if it had been my first Squarepusher album, i think i
would've been a bit disappointed too... but luckily, i
bought it after i got Hard Normal Daddy, and i was so
fascinated by HND that at that moment i was ready to accept
anything from Sq...

'Selection..' is probably his most incostistent release, but
i still feel affection for this album. Dedicated Loop is
easily one of his best tracks.

Indeed - are me and mappatazee the only ones who enjoyed the
ceephax tracks?

this was the worst album by squarepusher .... OR SO I
THOUGHT.

i hated it on first listen, but now, a mere 20 months later,
i realise it is one of his best releases. Ceephax is one of
my all time favs, and snakethingymabob.

for some reason i dont know hardly any of squarepusher's
track titles.

But i do know that on S16 i really like 2,4, and 5.

Its a pretty rad album that really doesnt sound like much
anything else tommy has done.

2 - Square Rave
4 - Dedicated Loop
5 - Tomorrow World

those seem to be consistent favourites among Tom J fans.

This is a good CD, but I'm not sure on some of the tracks.
The Schizm ones are a bit meh, and Snake Pass is awful.

I guess is not the classic [] album... so if you expected
crazy drilling beats, then you shall be dissapointed

but I really like the album

definitely one of squarepusher's career highlights.

Ceephax Mix is my personal favourite off the album, but I
like quite a few off it.

offline Dannn_ from United Kingdom on 2004-02-20 10:27 [#01081987]

It's not so coherent as an album in the same way that Feed
Me Wierd Things is, and certainly not as much as Go Plastic
which is completely organic... but it still has some
excellent tracks. Tommorrow World, Time Borb, the Ceephax
Mix... Acid Tape Track too... I love his improv jazz stuff
but I think this album could have been easier to enjoy if
there were a few less, or if they were laid out so they
didn't feel like filler.

They are a selection of 16 squarepusher tracks. There are
17 tracks on the album but one of the tracks is a Ceephax
Acid Crew track.
