God he is such a cunt. Complete agony for his set at the
Warp Halloween party and the funny thing is that people were
digging it, the same people who went to see AFX, Plaid and
Luke Vibert!

Are you Telica's friend?

I will admit that some of his set was a bit pants, but i
really really digged the majority of it :)

I am not someone's friend. Everything about him kills me.
His god-awful faux-soulful voice. The music ain't that bad
tho.

around here.

i thought i was the only one that thought his set was wank!

the vocals got annoying after two tracks and the backing
stuff was wholly uninspiring. and, to make matters worse,
he kept pretending to beat-box - when he took the mic away
from his mouth it carried on...as if by magic.

he was strutting around like a dog on heat too.
bit of a gimp if you ask me.

i saw him three times live, the only one i truly enjoyed was

thn you'll find that he was sasmpling the beatboxing and
layering it with other stuff, i was stood on the balcony for
his set so i saw him do it he was also triggering the
samples from a midid controller.

Just had to clear that one up.

Why is he a wanker?

I saw his at sonar2003 and was impressed. It was one of the
most original electronic live act's i've seen in a long
time! Tough... I've only seen him once :-(

i've never heard what j. lidell does on his own but super
collider's music really appeals to me. so, i don't see why
the guy should be a wanker. he has a weird voice which, if
used right as it is on the supper collider tracks (like
"darn" for an instance), sounds unique.

btw, i've seen an intervire with him a long ago on a german
music channel (viva zwei, i think) and he was one of the
strangest characters i had ever seen. running around kissing
trees... it was wonderful. :)

I envy all those who got to see him live.
Muddlin Gear IS one of my favourite albums ever to come out
on WARP. It's that one truly unique album that's come out
of late that doesn't fall anywhere near the sounds of the
established Warp archetypes, i.e Aphex, Ae, SP, Plaid etc.
His work with Cristian Vogel as Super Collider is also
amazing, just for the sheer weirdness and experimentation
they layer into otherwise extremely accessible songs.

Calling someone a wanker just because you dont get into
their music is pretty ...no other way to call it but...wanky
in itself.

Maybe I shouldn't have labelled HIM a wanker, but that set
was the pits. While I will admit his stuff is original, I
don't think IDM and that type of signing belong anywhere
near eachother, but I digress, his show was shit, period.

hmm...what does and doesn't belong in IDM? why don't we let
someone with a bit more of an impact on the scene..oh shall
we say WARP..decide that...

what monoid said.

his voice is perect. all you wankers who can't hear that
just sell your ears to a pimp or let me cut them off, cause
they're of no use any more.

no, he sounds like stevie wonder

a couple of weeks ago he did a performance on a dutch
television show (and a popular one too!) where he did this
blind soulsinger wearing black sunglasses thing. everybody's
probably thinking he's actually blind.

o, and i love his work btw

jamie lidell is amazing live, its very dynamic and you can
see him putting the layers together but its still surprising
how it comes out. I thought Telica was cool but I don't know
how you could watch him and not realise hes sampling himself
