this is great music! I love it! v-proc is such a happy,
euphoric tune!

great album.

only problem: it came just after confield

one of autechre´s best efforts

it took me a few months to get into draft, but once i
did......awesome stuff.
was this the same for everyone, or did it 'click' straight
away? both confield and draft have taken a bit of work on
my part to get into, but it was well worth it!

just last week, myself and princo were treated to "xylin
room" at really loud volume when they played it in a local
melbourne pub, there really are sound that you can hear when
it's loud that you would otherwise miss

lucky you!

The beats are excellent.
I'd really like *some* form of melody, though. Whether it's
the weird abstract synths of Confield or what. Draft just
seems to be lacking synths on most track. Sounds half
finished. Some really great stuff on it, all the same.

I haven't listened to Draft in a while, but when i did
listen to it, after a while it just clicked and everything
was great. Some excellent tunes on there.

well, it took me a few days probably :D

i felt that getting into Draft was really a piece of cake,
may be because i'd been 'trained' by Ae's previous albums,
especially Confield, of course.

Draft seems to be less ambient than Confield... it's more
upbeat and funky, as some of xltronic members said once
(probably it was Empiricus)...
yeah, FUNKY is the word ! :)

where to start

as always they are invent more of the original and fattest
beats ive ever heard

..words escape me

6ie.cr, pntil, - GAWD SUCH DELICIOUS BEATS

dont even get me started on reinform puls that fucking track
has 4 or 5 genius nuances that bring me joy each time i hear
them

and i like to let TAPR hit me from time to time. i like how
that track busts my skull.

BOOOMP, SST-ST-KSHSSH, BWAAH-BOMP-BOMP, SST-KSHSH

SURRIPERE -- the transition that will leave such a gash in
your brain

all of these delicious fat beats and sounds. and each track
is just like they are jammin' -- its like graffiti and some
of it is totally traumatizing

i mean jesus what else can i say

When I'm listening to surripere I visualize an examination
of all lymph nodes in the body specifically in the
neck/shoulder region

X-RAY Vision with efficient scanning you know what im saying

Well I wrote this in another thread last night, but
still...

================
I would give it a solid 8, if it wasn't for those bloody
drum samples they use all throughout the albums. I mean,
Autechre *is* known through their discography to have parted

out of typical percussions and beats. Their research is
extensive and magestual to find out the right sound.

Now what does Draft has? Boring percussions that were done
a million times before. I mean, snares and hi-hats and
other crapola?
================

offline ymenard on 2003-11-02 14:38 [#00930604]
Points: 1001 Status: Regular

Except "reniform puls" of course, but they fuck it up with
boring percussion when they change the piece at mid-point.

Sorry I don't listen to Autechre to hear fucking congas
doing the same pattern for 4 minutes.

It's something they do all throughout the album also, to
switch from interesting to boring (often when they add all
those normal percussion sounds) in mid-piece. All through
the album you'll find that. "surripere" is amazing
old-school ambiant until the bore stuff comes in.

6ie.cr, Theme of Sudden Roundabout, & V-PROC are my 3
favorite trax. very nice beats.

i theorize that 6ie.cr was made using a TR-606, though i
could be wrong. the "original" trac title is "606.ie".

the sounds halfway thru surripere evokes images of a weird
alien giant being born, looking about in a silly manner,
experimenting some, ultimately dissapearing in the onslaught
of blindly marching mechanoids :( why must ae always be so
sad :(

draft is my fav now, just edging out confield. it only took
one listen actually for me to fall for this one. blam! ton
of bricks: in fact, I popped her on and laid down on the
futon, and listened end to end without stopping, and at the
completion of the last track sat up like "that's it?" even
though it's a full length album I was craving MORE, bring me
more! I think I will be the biggest fan until someone bumps
me off.

actually RENI-FORM...

laughing..

anything new.

It took me time to get into Autechre and I found that I only
managed it by starting with their older stuff. and now I
would say I'm a big fan. But tracks like p.ntil I just
really can't enjoy. I appreciate the construction but it's
just so emotionless to me. I mean it could have been made by
a robot. (Whcih no doubt it pretty much was, i.e. MSP MAX or
whatever its called).

this was the first autechre album i got just out of
curiosity, was a bit kind of wtf/lol to start with but i got
into it after a bit.

i remember reading in a review you need to listen to it loud
(or in headphones) even though some of the tracks sound a
bit noisy and your first instict is to turn it down, because
theres a lot of stuff in it you dont hear if you listen to
it quietly in the background.

can anyone recommed some artists similair to autechre? i've
got like 9 of their albums now and some gescom tunes but i
want to hear someone else for a change

i like Tapr a lot, Xylin Room, V-Proc is a super track.
Autechre seems to like doing music the way when at first it
sounds rhythmic and beautiful, and then they turn
randomizers ON,and it still sounds beautiful, though not
much rhythmic. Like in Lentic Catachresis (i love it), Xylin
Room, Reniform Puls, Cap IV...
