Who here owns a portable Mac?

If you do,

Please make an interesting and straight-to-the-gut post
about it

1) How do you use it (what apps, etc)?
1a) Is it more useful to you than your PC is for your
creative needs?

2) What type it is (ibook or powerbook)

3) A picture of it if possible (would be GREAT)

Please be very descriptive

This is for my own evaluation. Thanks y'all.

1) i use it for everything, although i mainly use it for
graphics (photoshop, illustrator, maya)
it has never crashed, and i don't see why i would use a pc
again for anything other than gaming, which it seems to have
an advantage over mac.

2)powerbook g4

3)uh, go to apple.com you lazy bastard.

1) How do you use it (what apps, etc)?

logic, reason, fm7, peak, recycle, max/msp, soundhack,
absynth, +vst's

1a) Is it more useful to you than your PC is for your
creative needs?

No, they are both equally apart of my creative process.

2) What type it is (ibook or powerbook)

powerbook g4 400mhz (first model) they've gotten much better
I hear :-)

1) mostly soundedit and supernintendo emulator
1a) not necessarily, but being able to make music outside
when you're in a park is awesome
2) ibook
3) no picture of it. it's very small (the smallest size they
come in i believe). on the outside is three stickers,
Venetian Snares (covering the apple), Isolate records, and
Pale. on the wrist wresting stations (i dunno what they're
called, the spots to put your hands) there's a sticker on
each side. left side boards of canada sticker from twoism,
right side bogdan raczynski sticker from samurai math
beats.

i named it gilligan cause it's my little buddy

1a) Is it more useful to you than your PC is for your

I only use Csound and supercollider on it. Nothing else.
It's not more useful than my pc (it's a lot less stable
too!), but it was free and supercollider is good and
unavailable on the pc.

2) What type it is (ibook or powerbook)

Powerbook G3 with 160mb ram.

I'm using OS9.

I don't have any discs for it and I only have the floppy
drive (it's the model where you can change the flopy and cd
drive around and I was given it second hand w/o a cd drive)

How's the warez front on the mac? Is all the good stuff
available for musicians?

I've always said that if I'm going to start using Cubase,
it's going to be on a mac. Now Cubase is so stable on the
PC, I find it hard to justify the INSANE PRICES apple have.
Who knows..maybe if I someday move over completely to
software, I'll get a mac. They will probably die out before
that happens.

BAH!
