October2001... at first time i didn't like it... then i
loved it and now I like it always more.
A cocktail of Ambient/Drill'n'bass/Classical
music/Experimental/etc...

Probably not RDJ best innovative release but anyway a great
double album, no doubts.

\/\/.

btw: Gwarek2 and Gery Mernans and Gwarek2 are really
innovative and impressive tracks.

Gwarek2 has something to do with Stockhausen music and Co.

One of my favourites, a nice mixed up album but doesnt have
a certain feel to it like other Twin albums before it.

But deffinatley one of my favourite albums of all time :)

An excellent sum up of diff styles of earlier work, and some
new exciting threads, I think. But then again he has
disappointed with the two new mixes and Smojphace. Who knows
what will be up next?

vordhosbn is a tune that comes closest to get me
crying...beautiful, emotional, melodic, rhytmic...brilliant

anyway drukqs remain a great release.

I love this release. I leave it alone for a month or so then
I slap it on and it's great to hear again. BABY!

usually i don't like drill'n'bass music, instead I love
drill'n'bass tracks by Richard D. James.

Which is the difference between a drill'n'bass track made by
Squarepusher, Venetian Snare, B. Raczynski and Aphex Twin?
Well aphex twin drill'n'bass has SOUL inside.

VORDHOSBN, has a deep soul inside, it's not "DRILL'N'BASS",
it's "DRILL'N'SOUL".

Agree with Giginger, when you havent listened to it for a
month, after that it sounds so fresh.

all those you named there are doing great drill n bass
music, but aphex gives most emphasis on emotion imo
other than that they're all tehnically perfect at doing it

Some of the drill tracks I get tired of, as I always do with
AFX's stuff. The rest of the album I love... the ambient
tracks, the piano tracks. All great. Some of the faster
tracks, though... meh. Don't like.
And there are things like Aussois and Bit4, which are
completely pointless. Still, a good album.

i had never heard anything electronic except maybe some
dodgy trance before hearing vordhosben and it set my
standard. i get all nostalgic when anyone talks about
drukqs. it wasnt even released that long ago though was it?

was a bit pissed off with the style.....but now !!!
i love it!!!

has anyone else noticed that said backwards druqks sounds
like "scared" ? (ok maybe with a slight accent )

to be honest first time I heard it I thought it was a bit
too much, too full on and not coherent as an album, kind of
thought 1 disk would have been enough, but I was wrong! I
think it shows up 99% of other producers in any genre...
it's sweet.

drukqs is my absolutely favorite afx album, and one of my
all time faves as well. i first heard this going on a burn
ride with a few friends in school and needless to say i was
blown away (the only thing close to idm id ever heard before
it was kid a). still to this day i listen to it and get all
warm and muchy inside. the best tracks imho are vordhosbn,
54 cymru beats, mt st michel, afx... ah fuck it, theyre all
the best.
