Beautiful electronica songs

boxrocket on 2001-07-16 07:43 [#00015355]

daft punk-harder, better, faster, stronger (for the first
two weeks i owned this album i couldn't listen to this song
without crying)

bjork-bachelorette

there are many more but my brain isn't working well enough
to think of them now

Aaladorn from Texas on 2001-07-16 08:15 [#00015370]

Any of you ever heard of Matmos? They have some very
beautiful songs made with very not so beautiful sounds, like
liposuction, and other surgeries. Also check out Mouse on
Mars, very amazing stuff. Also check out that "Aphex Twin"
track "ouside kick ass violin solo" I don't think this is an
Aphex Twin song but it's awsome none-the-less.

Wizard MaC from Amersfoort on 2001-07-16 15:09 [#00015498]

Guru Josh-Infinity

Let's get this topic started again, I'd like to hear current
opinions, this is the thread that got me started on this
message board.

r3fl3x from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 2001-08-28 10:51 [#00026550]

ok - sure thing.

Aphex Twin - Anything from SAWII or I
BOC - Sixtyniner
BOC - Roybgiv {spelling?}

I dont listen too Electronica that is soothing.. well its
more well put this way. I dont think that electronica is
soothing... to me anyway, for that I would enjoy some laid
back trip hop or something. I dunno.

djfony -mike b- from helemano, hawaii -djfony.8m.com- on 2001-08-28 10:55 [#00026554]

Aphex twin - polynomial c

Bedouin ascent - the one on "further self evident truths 2"

Squarepusher......all very emotional....latest grabbing me

Aphex Twin - Alberto Balsalm
Underworld - Pearls Girl
Orbital - Lush 3-1 & 3-2
Orbital - Halcyon & on & on

Dentaku on 2001-08-28 15:12 [#00026631]

Manitoba: Check out Manitoba if you haven't already (even
though he's actually form Ontario :) )

Bjork: Cover Me (plaid remix). She's probably my favorite
artist in any field of "art" but most of it isn't really
electronic.

Plone: Anything that sounds like carousel music like
"Plaything".

Kreidler: Au-Pair

µ-ziq: The Fear

Skinny Puppy: Choralone, Rivers, Rivers End

His Name Is Alive: sittingstillmoving stillstaringoutlooking
(not electronic in the least, but I had to mention it)

Nightmares On Wax (it's ALL good)

Aphex: Flim, Alberto Balsalm,Saw2 disc 1 track 1

ALL Boards of Canada (listening to Slag Boom Van Loon -
Poppy Seed BOC Remix right now)

Orb: Star6&789, Spanich Castles (from the days before they
tried to actually write their own music)

Electronic: Getting Away With It (old school)

Kraftwerk: Trans Europe Express (repetition is beautiful)

Vince Clark: Wish he'd come out with an instrumental album
(not that I mind Andy Bell). Definitely beautiful uplifting
music.

Plastikman: Plastique

AND I'm horrible at remembering the names of my favorite
Autechre tracks :)

Chrispy from UK on 2001-08-28 15:23 [#00026633]

Lush 3-1 - Orbital
Halcyon+on+on - Orbital
Dwr Budr (Dirty Water) - Orbital
Acrid Avid Jam Shred - Aphex Twin
and I think
Alberto Balsalm - Aphex Twin
is the most beautiful. ^_^

Pain on 2001-08-28 15:45 [#00026635]

I'm quite fond of µ-Ziq. I think a lot of his songs
released on the raft are fantastic. Also, Plaid and Autechre
are quite good. Double Figure is very beautiful. The whole
thing.

dj bladdered from shitty office UK on 2001-08-28 16:00 [#00026638]

Try
Pilgrims Lament - Nash the Slash
Neon Lights - Kraftwerk
Somebody up there likes you - Simple Minds

Xanatos from NYC on 2001-10-22 21:59 [#00044478]

Well this is the topic that got me on the message board, oh
so long ago, so I thought I would bring it back up to the
front, see how the new members feel, see if anyone else has
anything to add.

You guys can check what I wrote before, recently though (I
feel to compelled to share this), what has been giving me
that shivery feeling is when people get crazy with their
drums, like they are trying to escape the whole song and
they finally let go of them.

The most prime example of this is Squarepusher, of course.

Port Rhombus, about a minute into it, when he finally just
lets the snares like pour out, my whole body tingles...
Lots of SP is doing this for me now, and aphex too, I've
been really into Girl/Boy Song recently (with the drums.)
And I'm also getting really into the ambient funky beat
Boards of Canada stuff (Pete Standing Alone, Roygbiv, Live
Track at Warp.) Anyway thats enough from me...

Discuss.
