I mean a proper double album, and not two discs of outtakes,
a la Drukqs.

yeah, a PROPER 2cd...not "one cd is tracks, and one is
samples," or one cd is the abulm and the other is
remixes...

a PROPER 2cd release is well welcomed in my universe.

as I consider drukqs to be a masterpiece I would be very
pleased with a double album ala drukqs

(but with the autechre style of course)

meh

I rather a single CD of great stuff, then a double CD of
good stuff.

If they did a double CD, it would take twice as long to make
it then a normal CD.

And it was a good while between confield and draft.

You ready to wait that long? Because songs dont just appear
out of thin air.

I would like, remixes for cash by autechre

they have made over 40 remixes I think... so they could do
like a box set of 4 cds... and release one each two months
with lots of goodies for the preorders

I don't think it would either, for a couple of reasons:

1. The sheer length of time they take recording one disc's
worth (as mentioned above).

2. Autechre's spirit is really anti - pretentious; they
just, kinda do things (interviews, statements, politically -
charged recordings) and that's it.

3. A double album is the type of project that a band with
grand visions & massive plans takes on; certainly not to say
they're unambitious, but Autechre don't strike me as this
sort of band.

they should make a 15 cd release.

but like, each CD only has one track.

thatd be great. Id laugh

offline dave_g from United Kingdom on 2003-10-23 11:26 [#00915107]

perhaps buy two ae albums at once? draft 7.30 came on two
vinyl discs, does that count?
would you really want a double album, if it doubled the time
between releases?
If drukqs is outtakes, then 'real' aphex must be some
serious stuff.

maybe its up to you zeus :) you could have each track 80
minutes long with 70 minutes of hum at the end

And finally,

5. Double albums need a shift in tone, mood, or general
textural palette from one disc to another. Obviously
Autechre are capable of this, but given the shifts in
direction they've taken within the last couple of years,
would it tolerable, never mind enjoyable ?

*Shudders at the thought of a double - disc Confield remix
LP*

It would be cool to hear them do some collaberations. I
think one inparticular might be between them and Cevin Key
of Download/Skinny Puppy etc. There were rumours of them
doing something with Radiohead but i don't know that ever
happened.

offline Zeus from San Francisco (United States) on 2003-10-23 11:36 [#00915128]
Points: 14042 Status: Lurker

hahaha it would fail terribly.

everyone would be pissed of that theyd have to rip all the
tracks, and burn them onto one CD, just to listen to one
after the other. (no ones going to switch a CD 15 times).
And it would cost more. And people would have to pay more,
for the same amount of tracks.

The only thing that I do like about it... is that it
completely gets rid of the concept of track order and flow.
Each peice would be a complete seperate entity all its
own... you know how you listen to an album so much, that
when you hear a song, you expect the next song on the CD to
play? It would cancel that out... which is kinda cool...

offline nacmat on 2003-10-23 11:36 [#00915130]
Points: 31271 Status: Lurker

anyway autechre are nice with fans... I mean... since 2001
we ve got confield, gantz graf and draft 7.30

not a year without a release and all of the work is
great....

so I really trust in them, I know anything they do I ll be
please with (almost surely)

björk did that with her vespertine release:

buy these 12 cd's :)

This is a very rare box set of 12 CD's (..) Each CD
contains a single track from the album, and has a unique
full colour cardboard sleeve.
You can see the 12 different sleeve covers on the photo,
which shows the front of the box set.

drukqs is just a sloppy job, compared to rdj for instance
the electronic dance stuff is still what it hangs to, so you
can either do disc one for two great tracks or disc two for
some more great tracks that only are not as good as those
two on disc one,
you know what i mean?
