just great. a little 'quiet IDM' i read somewhere. From the
beginning to the end it'll just take you away from the
world.

So are you the official scout master?
Anyway I have little time for Arovane, a second rate ae
clone.

I dislike arovane quite a lot.

his music bores me to bits. and he does seem to be, as flea
so eloquently types, a bad ae clone.

delightful texts.

i think the comparison to a bad ae clone is very misplaced.

flea: i would love that job.

i really don't see the comparison. it's apples versus
peaches.

yes it is.

but in this case the peaches would oh so much like to be the
apples. but they are still peaches.

'Tides' is an awesome release, the best by Arovane.

Definitely has some of the best soothing beats I've ever
heard. I don't think there's 1 song that I don't really
care for on there.

I personally find arovane boring.

maybe he's got some ae rips on some of his other
releases.....but it doesnt seem to be present on tides....

i'd take arovane over half the shit out these days...

it's a good release, i used to listen to it on a regular
basis, but it must have been 1 year since the last time i
listened to it, for some reason.

nice little album, somewhat repetitive, holds together as an
album better than "atol scrap" (all IMHO)

anyway, i like arovane a lot. sure it's an ae clone but not
a second rate one, please. his melodies are lovely. ok i
confess, i picture scifi flicks when listening to arovane is
why i love him :) his last ep sure does rock, i do tell
yallz

AE? I hear hardly any AE in Arovane, gives me a totally
different feel. And I love him, I've had the melody for The
Storm stuck in my head for over a year straight.

Tides is quite a bit better than Atol Scrap.

my sister told me she found a burned CD I made for her, with
Arovane's Tides on it. Turns out shes really digging it!

It tis a great album, very chill.

I dont see the AE connections at all.

i see the ae comparison with his other releases, but not
this one. this is totally different. his best release to
date i think.

His early stuff ruined him.. well not quite, but people who
were turned off by his VERY derivative first album often
don't give Tides a chance. When in fact, Tides is a
completely different album from anything else out there.
Quite beautiful.

I got Minth vinyl the other day and it's good. I've listened
to lots of his stuff and I don't get this AE comparison.
Some songs might sound a bitter amber-like. and if so, they
aren't worse than those amber songs at all.

Love that album. And I don't hear much AE at all in Tides.
Don't like Atol Scrap nearly as much though.

arovane has his own style... it's reminiscent of ae at
times, but only remotely so... Tides is gorgeous... it takes
gorgeous downtempo loops, and just lets them run their
course... i can see how people find it boring... because
this particular album isn't that progressive, i juts think
it's a beautiful vibe... i'm definitely looking forward to
his forthcoming album on Neo Ouija... which should be out
sometime this year, apparently

i think 'Tides' is a masterpiece. Even some heavily
convinced Gothic-obsessed girls I know, they can't help it,
but they like 'Tides'. Even if they deny their liking, it
definitely stays on the level of subconsciousness.

The closest AE comparision would be the Amber album and
Arovane is actually better with regard to atmosphere and
mood. Besides that, there's no relation between the two
except for the quality of their releases.

although i don't really like arovane's other albums much
anymore and lillies was a pretty big dissapointment, this
album still stands out for me.

it has it's own little style to it and it greatly reminds me
of summer. oh, how i wish it was summer already.

and the autechre comparison definitely doesn't hold up at
all on this release. the rest of his stuff could be compared
to things around the time of tri repetae and that's about
it.

Lillies is good to sleep to, I havent heard tides though...I
cant seem to find it anywhere

My girl bought me lillies so it has a special place in my
heart, like chicken noodle soup does

I still think Tides is his best album. Lilies is good, but
it's so meditative, with no distinct melodies, themes. Music
is smooth and calm. On Tides, there are some perfect bass
and guitar lines - on tides, eleventh! and a secret.
