Yeah, I need to get that album. It's not that similar to
this one is it?

indeed it's not. "start breaking my heart' is more lush
electronic ambient sound,
"up in flames" felt to me a little rockish, i don't know,
don't like that.

I don't know, I downloaded Start Breaking My Heart, and I
found it boring... Up In Flames is awesome though... upbeat
and happy, and full of life... real good album...

Four Tets latest Rounds is an excellent album as well!!

i have to agree it totally depend on my mood if i love it.
It sounds a bit like global communications, or brothomstates
(start breaking... that is)

in a happy mood it's boring, true
in a sad mood it's great

I was in a music store over in Den Haag a few weeks ago, and
they had Rounds playing... I was like "Cool, I'm on the
other side of the globe, and they're playing a cd I actually
know!!" hehe, brought a tear to me eye! :)

Same thing happened to me once, when 26 mixes was released,
the free record shop (of all places!!) was playing cd1 track
1,2,3 (then i left) i wasn't even looking for cd's, just
listening how cool it was this store played aphex twin!

Too awesome, way better than Start Breaking My Heart. I
agree though, Up in Flames is kind of rock/pop-ish, gee-tars
and all.

definitely a summer2003-defining album for me.

you're right, 'crayon' and 'hendrix with ko' are tight, off
to buy the 'hendrix with ko' 12" tomorrow.

up iln flames is great...... i think i read somewhere that
manitoba was 'discovered' by four tet?
anyone know if thats true?

they're both great and underrated (and under-known) imo

i think you may be right. if i remember, dan snaith
(manitoba) had made a demo in his bedroom, and gave it to
four tet (keiran hebdan, i believe) at a show, and he liked
it and knew leaf was a proper label for him.

i bought the 12" this afternoon.

the b-sides are so nice, especially "silver spinters" - i'd
say 'classic manitoba' but this is he new (soemwhat
improved) style, but it's still awsome :D
