hmm if you like drill you'd like netlon sentinel which is a
track on ep7. lp5 offers that stuff too, but not in large
quantities. and yeah if you want to get into autechre you
should get incunabula. if you want instant bliss, however,
get the envane ep.

nah, i wouldn't start with incunabula.
the first ae album i bought was lp5 and it had me hooked
instantaneously - that's what i'd recommend starting with.

Hi man :)

yeah i know, haven't had much access to the net recently :(
and it looks like it's gonna get even worse.

i'll do my best to get on here as often as possible - i do
miss lurking around here.

Well, things are going okay here - took out a loan, got an
iBook, Reason 2.5 and an Oxygen8. Looking to get Ableton
Live soon, and a hardware synth....I've got my eyes set on
either an Access Virus Indigo2, Minimoog Voyager, or a
Roland MC-202. To be honest, I don't really think I'll ever
have enough for the first two, so it'll most likely be the
MC-202 (if I can find one on eBay that is!).

Work is crap, as usual. Starting to do some more stuff
musically, I've gone into really slow BPM territtories (is
that spelt right?), I've just finished a cover of a Duke
Nukem 3D song that's at 103BPM, which for me is DOG SLOW!

I'm hoping to do a lot more stuff, my next track I'm
thinking of doing something a lot more electro....doing too
much stuff with breakbeats (not that it's a bad thing using
breaks, I'd just like to widen my horizons)

Anyways, how are things with you? Anything new happening?
New equipment? New Tracks?

:)

Thanks for the welcome back

i got the vid for Gantz Graf....fucking amazing

The first I ever heard of ae was Second Bad Vibel....yeah
yeah, i know, it's the one that used to be shown a lot on
MTV2, but if it wasn't for MTV2 (back in the day when MTV2
was DECENT) then I wouldn't have ever come accross Aphex
Twin, Nine Inch Nails, Autechre, Les Rhythms Digitales,
Atari Teenage Riot, or any of the other stuff that isn't in
"the public eye"

:)

LP5 nand EP7 are their most drillish releases, but at the
same time, the least dark/atmospheric. I get the least out
of LP5... in fact, I don't really like it (except Rae and
Arch Carrier).
If you like Gantz Graf, then maybe get Chiastic Slide,
Confield or Tri Repetae next. Yeah.

I would like to hear some dark menacing stuff...I like that
in music.

When I first got hold of NIN's Broken ep, I thought then (as
I still do now) that this is his most sinister
work......listening to that stuff through headphones, full
blast at night....very sinister.

Any others you could recommend for it's sinisterness?

Confield's pretty weird/dark/sinister.
Tri Repetae is very cold and mechanical.
Chiastic Slide is quite dark, but not throughout.

Always good to see you around here...

I'm not bad, back in uni (final year) and working all the
the hours of the day... I only have to go in three days, but
there's already loads of work to be done out of hours.

The only new equipment I've got is a drum machine (Elektribe
ER-1) that someone kindly lent me. That's come in more handy
for DJing than making tracks although I have made a few good
drum loops with it.

I've got lots of new tracks nearly finished, haven't ULed
anything new in ages. I've got about 9 drum and bass tracks
I'm pretty happy with I'm getting into editing (well, to all
intents and purposes "making") breaks in reason.

That sounds like a good haul of stuff there, I can strongly
recommend Live... excellent program and you can use it in
session mode as a sampler for DJing. It's really good for
making tracks out of all those left over loops you make for
tracks.

not good about the hours of work you have to do :( hope that
you get some leeway somewhere in there!

My mate wants an Electribe machine, but I think he only
wants one coz he saw a pic of Liam Howlett using one in a
mag heheh.

Nice to hear about the tracks, if you manage to get the
u/l'd and I can get on a fast connection I'd be grabbing
them to listen to :)

Yeah, it cost me over £1400. And I was miffed to find out
that Reason 3 is in the works, you know, just after I'd
spent £210 on the bugger...anyways it was worth it...I am a
very big advocate of Reason.

I'll have to save up some money to get Live.....are we at
version 2 now? I remember going to Music LIVE at the NEC a
couple of years ago and seeing the stand that Ableton had
there....pretty impressive.

I'd go for Anvil Vapre. That was my first Autechre record
and it absolutely blew my mind
