maybe Audion would be better than iTunes now... it has many skins, with transparency levels, some are really kick-ass (i even made one myself), can read Ogg Vorbis, can make seamless transitions between mp3 lists, record streams, is compatible with the iPod, can extinct your computer after a determinated time so you can listen to mp3s while falling asleep without worrying about your computer being on, etc etc etc...
(the only thing is that it's $29.95, and well i'm satisfied with iTunes - if i was very rich i would pay for Audion but iTunes suits me well so...)

iTunes is so beautifully simple, I like having everything in one big list that I can easily search and organize. Not many frills or cool visual features, but it does fine on its own.
