eh... a re-release, so soon?!!

godfuck it, i couldn't get the original limited version
because i knew about it too late, and now i feel like bought
it too early because this re-edition comes... ; )

(it at least they'd release the bonus CD alone!)

but well : )
i love the Isness.

way to fuck over the fans who were daring or loyal enough to
buy the new album (and/or the ep('s))

It was the label's decision to re-release the album and put
some extra mixes and such on it. FSOL made sure there were
at least some 'new' bits and bobs on there, so as *not* to
fuck over the fans who are loyal enough to buy all the
stuff.

It's all a side project. The proper follow-up to Dead Cities
is out next spring.

they should just release this as a separate cd, not the
isness. i highly doubt it'll be a normal price cd, it'll
probably be closer to a double album price even if they
market it as a "bonus" disc

offline purlieu from Leeds (United Kingdom) on 2003-10-16 11:54 [#00904441]

I think if it weren't for the label deciding to re-release
the album, we wouldn't get this disc at all. Remembering
that we're getting two new albums for them next year as
well.
But yeah, I do know what you mean. I'd rather this was an EP
than a bonus disc. Still, six otherwise unavailable songs,
and three from various rare versions of the album... I think
this is one for the completist fans more than anything,
really.

Blaghhh, who cares? Wrong move by them. They should have
came out with new cd filled with new material (preferably
accelerator/dead cities ish)

i'm going to get it but i'll probably sell my copy of the
isness just to make it cheaper for myself

i have my doubts we'll have 2 fsol albums out next year..
remember how notorious they are for being late or breaking
promises

There's two albums next year, and an EP by the end of this
year. And it was the label's move, not theirs!...

good point about fuckng over fans with re-releases. i loathe
that, and it happens all too often. anyone who is good
enough to buy a cd/album on 1st week of release gets kicked
in the balls when 6 months down the line their money is used
to re-promote the same product with a bonus cd, extra tracks
or a discount price. its bullshit.

^That was towards Asche

Tits - hehe. Yes, true. But the Amorphous Androgynous one is
already recorded, and the FSOL one is about finished, I
think. But yeah. Let's say there are two albums 'promised
for next year' ;).

And selling your Isness is a good idea.

it's one thing to reissue an album that's out of print, or
make a deluxe/expanded version of a classic album.. that's
cool by me. but to reissue something a few weeks, months, or
even a year later, is a slap in the face to the fans. this
happens to be sometimes with hip-hop albums when they append
a couple tracks or add a bonus dvd. the advantage of buying
things early is you get to enjoy it longer and you can get
it cheap on sale the first week. but now you have to think
twice because of these damn cash-ins...

the album was poor by their standards anyway but the single
release was quite good although it seems theyve added some
of it onto the bonus disc. so exactly what tracks are new?

maybe it's an american thing, or maybe you just have to shop
at the big chains instead of mail ordering (this is
difficult of course for vinyl and "obscure" artist/label
releases)

offline purlieu from Leeds (United Kingdom) on 2003-10-16 12:06 [#00904458]

Tits - yes, I agree. I'm going to email their management to
see if they know *why* the label chose to re-release so
soon. It seems a bit stupid, really.

Earthleakage: here's a track by track.

1. elysian feels ( abbey road version )
(from the mispress/promo only version of The Isness)

2. yo-yo ( abbey road version )
(from the Mello Hippo EP)

3. goodbye sky
(from the mispress/promo only Isness)

4. the lovers ( love is the lover )
(previously unreleased mix)

5. maharishi raga
(from the forthcoming Divinity EP)

6. the band ( divinity )
(exclusive)

7. rural green
(exclusive)

8. chawawah
(from the vinyl Isness)

9. she sells electric ego
(from the Mello Hippo EP)

10. chinese whispers
(exclusive)

11. slo-mo
(from the Mello Hippo EP)

12. the conga run
(from the forthcoming Divinity EP)

13. theram
(exclusive)

14. toy piano

Oh, and The Isness is my second favourite FSOL (well,
Amorphous Androgynous) album.

now, what label is behind this? the US cleopatra records
(hahahha!) imprint? or the UK one?

the isness is a good album, i really loved it when it came
out but i may not have listened to it all year because i
grew out of it

offline purlieu from Leeds (United Kingdom) on 2003-10-16 12:13 [#00904466]

Oh, it's no Cleopatra. They haven't even released a vinyl
Isness or Mello Hippo. It's Artful in the UK, which is why I
am little surprised. If it was Cleopatra they wouldn't have
let FSOL put any new stuff on at all and stuck a couple of
renamed mixes of We Have Explosive or something in the
middle, knowing them.

i can't BELIEVE they signed with cleopatra here! they
must've been absolutely desperate. worst label ever.

The Divinity EP is released 'soon'. No idea of an actual
tracklist or formats or whatever, other than it's going to
be like the Mello Hippo EP in format.

Tits - it's worrying, isn't it? Although 'top electronic duo
do hippy progtronica' is hardly anything easy to market. I'm
guessing Cleopatra were the biggest deal they could get.
Although I have a feeling they might not be releasing any
more through them after the whole 'whoops we accidentally
released 2500 copies of the wrong album' fiasco.

you can call me travis, ross..

that mispress thing was bizarre.. i can't believe that
happened, what a huge mistake

it's weird how groups with fanbases and reputations like
FSOL and fluke can't find decent labels in the US after
being dropped by virgin

offline purlieu from Leeds (United Kingdom) on 2003-10-16 12:30 [#00904495]

Oh, but 'tits' is more amusing. :P

It's odd though, isn't it? I mean, even though The Isness is
a pretty weird, uncommercial album, even for FSOL, you'd
think they could do better than Cleopatra/Hypnotic.
Hahaha. I just looked at the new design cleorecs.com with
it's 'Matrix' style design. That's embarrasingly poor.

isness isnt that bad, theres soom good moments, i agree
though, it shouldnt have been released under the fsol name
in usa, it sure didnt help sell albums either.
