i downloaded this from soulseek and i'd really like to get
it somwhere. does anyone know if this was ever released on a
cd? and where/if i could get it?

btw, its house? rhythms with ambient melodies - im not a fan
of house music, but i can easily listen yokotas house - he
makes it great!

oh, sorry, i'll attempt to answer the question......the
album is coming out soon, i think....and i dont think its
classified as house. prob still classified as ambient, but i
see what you mean by the house thing..

hmm, coming out soon?
i'll get his album "laputa" any day now - this one is
supossed to be his new one, and it is like a sequel to
sakura, grinning cat and the boy and the tree

acid mt. fuji sounds way more like his housey stuff - but it
would be awesome if its really going to be released! :)

susumu yokota was one of the first electronic musicians i
got into. i remember looking all over for this cd, but it
was a japanese only release.

hehe, yeah

a lot of his older stuff is really good, but unfortunately
is hard to find. i did find a used copy of 'cat, mouse, and
me' at a record store once.

have you heard any of the stuff he recorded as prism? it's
really good too.

i have the 'metronome melody' 12" ep but he released to full
lengths under that name: 'metronome melody' and 'fallen
angel'

most of this stuff is on the japanese label sublime. good
luck trying to find it though...i never could. :(

i only have sakura and it's really great. susumu has very
different styles... are there any more albums in the same
style as sakura from him?

grinning cat, the boy and the tree, image 1983-1998, magic
thread, and soon laputa is going to be released which should
be the same style as others i named

too bad i forgot the names but some time ago i listened to
two susumu albums sounding completely different from sakura.

that

well, those albums i named up there are not that similar to
sakura - i mean some tracks are much alike, but many are
different, but still with that specific yokota touch to it
if you prefer electronic sounds check grinning cat first, if
you prefer organic sounds check the boy and the tree
if you like ambient (with guitars and pianos) check
image...
and magic thread is very electronic, almost experimental

laputa, bought it the day it was released, its awesome!
Different to his other ambient albums though, seems darker
and a little more electronic.

Grinning Cat was the first one i ever bought....and its so
beautiful...some of the samples used are just tremendous.
