The point is that I have made a maximum bid much higher than
the current price. I can't make a direct bid, but is asked
to change my max bid...?

Strange...
"If a bidder's maximum bid meets or exceeds the reserve, the
bid will be automatically raised to meet the reserve. "

It doesn't work that way for me.

but that's the way it is, over here at least it works. If a
reserve price hasn't been met yet, you have to raise your
maximum bid.

Ah. I understand. My max prise is still below the reserve
price, then. But it strange that the current price aren't
raised to my maximum bid.

The auction just works in the same way as a normaL auction
without a reserve price. The reserve price just gives the
seller the right not to sell the item when the price is too
low at the end.

If you win something for that much money on eBay, you'd be
crazy not to use their escrow service for your payment.
That's just common sense.

actually reserves "ARE!" bullshit! they defeat the WHOLE
purpose of an auction: the luck of the draw...like
stocks...i place an item on ebay hoping the market for my
item at that point in time is high, thus creating a decent
profit, or braking even...I'f i'm not so lucky, i get less
then what i payed for...the luck of the draw.

but with a reserve price set, i don't have to play the
"stakes" game, and let my little pussy ass heart fill with
greed, and lame-ness as i sit back and wallow in my tiny ass
12 yr old piece of shit heart taking crak.

it's the WHOLE purpose of an auction: the luck of the
draw...MAYBE i'll find someone who really wants this item,
and'll bid till they win it...or may it'll sit there ill the
last minute, till someone bids a low and shitty bid, and i
lose money...

agreed, they should just set the auction at the minimum
price they would accept.

I never bid on auctions with reserves.

bidding *just* before an auction ends would probably be my
tactic as well....sucks for those who missed the item, but
that's how it works and everyone can think of that.

Reserves are dumb. I think the opening bid should just be
the what the reserve would be. Fuck this middleman
bullshit.
