I love Tindersticks. The first album will always be one of my favourites ever! I went on holiday somewhere with my parents just after it came out, and it was the only record I had to listen to so I ended up playing it to death.
I need to get the latest few of releases... I'm slipping behind.

Yeah, they're awesome. Chamber Pop is good for what ails you. I just recently heard Waiting for the Moon and it was one of the few albums of 2003 that didn't let me down (coughHailtotheTheifcough). Not as good as Curtains or some earlier ones, but it's excellent.
I think the reason I looked into Tindersticks originally was one of your posts about them once a year and a half ago, I downloaded the track and loved it.

i just got back from the concert...it was amazing!!! one of my favourite concerts, and i saw quite many. they're brilliant musicians, they sound even better live than they do on records and i was amazed by the voice of stuart staples - really incredible...i often was disappointed by various singers when i heard them live cos obviously their voice for the records is mastered in studio, but hearing stuart - his voice is even more beautiful and powerful live. it was great ambient, beautiful hall, great lightning, superb sound, we were all sitting and totally enjoying the music...tindersticks seem to also enjoy what they're doing a lot, really nice, cool guys!
towards the end, carla torgerson (the walkabouts) joined them and they did a beautiful song together...she was in the town by incidence...what i mean is, she wasnt supposed to perform at this concert but since she was in the town she joined them on stage (she was probably here visiting chris eckman, who now lives here in my hometown - he was on the concert as well, btw).
i will most definitely try to see them again some time - wonderful musicians!!!

Sounds like it was awesome, except for the ''lightning!''
I listened to the Bloomsbury Theatre live album once, haven't really gotten into it but what I heard was great, especially the arrangements.

haha, i put it wrong there, what i meant is it was great lighting (not lightning) :)
im not sure what you mean by arrnagements (as i havent heard that album), but if you mean how they performed songs live, i must say that they played them exactly like they are on albums...i just cant get it out of my head...really a beautiful show alltogether

Arrangements as in the instruments they use, they had lots of lush strings and things, made the recordings sound x-quisite. Not raw like a lot of live stuff, but still powerful.

"Not raw like a lot of live stuff, but still powerful"
that is very true...sounds so tender and so effective and apperantly each of them can play lots of instruments, cos they were changing quite a lot...drummer played keyboards and xylophone, guitarist also played some keyboards and was constantly changing from acoustic to electric guitar, the violinist also sang couple of songs - and no need to mention he sings good haha...apperantly there should be dvd from their live apperance (aperances?) released some time soon, which i'll be definitely getting...their show is a lot like that portisheads in NYC some years back - unfortunately i wasnt there, but i have the dvd and im loving it :)
they definitely made my day!

I really love the Tindersticks, they have this unique sound, not only because of Stuart's voice.
Check out Belle & Sebastian's new record if you're into this whole Cahmber Pop thing. It's an awesome record.

I have left instructions for "For those..." to be played at my funeral.
I played the first two albums to death, I had Tindersticks II on vinyl so i would spend all afternoon turning the discs over. Being a student then I had the time. The words "4 a.m. 6 feet down. Already up with the larks" from Cherry Blossoms always break my already thoroughly broken heart.

Travelling light is one of my all-time favourite songs... but from between first hearing the track to actually waking up and saying "hey, get some muthafuckin tindersticks, alex" has taken a long long time. I WILL get round to it.

I haven't seen Nlogax around in a very long time.
Oh yeah and Tindersticks rox whooooo! I listened to Waiting for the Moon the other day. What's up with the title? Any relation to that Doors album? Probably not. It's a pretty generic sounding phrase.

i'm a big fan of their early albums (first 2). i owuldn't say they've gone shit after those but they like have less taste. compos are more banal, arrangements too. less creative. like they lost it. like they had something to say, said it, and tried continuing when they had done their part.

I do agree, loved the first two albums, played them to death. Then Curtains came and it was like, ok... but then, as you say, I think the band said everything pretty early on and there wasn't much need to carry on, just watering down the sound...hhmmm, I don't know. They're a band that I loved very much, and still hold a special place in my heart, but I don't listen to anything released after Curtains.
