my friend asked me once, what "minimal" music is like. i couldn't really answer him. he then downloaded the album from "minimalistic sweden". he said ot was awesome and gave it a few days later to me.
my first impression was rather: wow, that's actually quite good.
now, after a few listetnings i have to say that this is awesome! minimal music can be so different. once it seems like "satanstornade", but much more clear and better in my opinion. then it turns into a chopped version of "bine". after this it's suddenly ambient !
minimal music opened a whole new spectrum of music for me. this music

i have recently fallen in love with creating soundtracks for alternate environments (kind of like saw 2)
me and a friend have started to compile a nice library of industrial sounds for an "ambient" cd we are going to create

yeah great stuff!
I've been really more into minimal music lately. I feel it is great! I just float away to it. It's not as directed as other music.
And defineatly music I will make in the future (I actually made it when I was a kid)...

i discovered one very cool thing about minimal music. i went to town today, with my discman and minimalistic sweden in it. it sounded awesome, when i heard a sound from outside through the earphones. that was awesome. i mean you listen to a song and you hear a car driving along. and it seems like it has just been added in the song. or someone says something etc. it makes the song different every time i listen to it.

I think much of minimal music has to do with the silence between the noise. If you fill that noise with everyday happenings, it doesn't sound out of place in the least. I love walking around the city and hearing the background ambience filter through the music.
Plastikman's "closer" was the last time I've done that - the effect was pretty sweet.

Minimalism I would say is basically atonal sound. Probably best not to call it music 'cause its more atmosphere creation than music.
