Chocolate Wheelchair is crap

just because squarepusher uses a fast amen loop doesnt mean
he is an "originator", and that anyone else who uses it in a
different way is a rip off. plenty of people use amen
breaks, and honestly other than the blatant "amen loop"
comparison, i dont hear a shred of similarity between them.
oh, unless you count "jazz". squarepusher invented that too!
what a rip off!

that aside, the "random" argument is pretty much retarded
and i hope to never see it again because it makes no sense.
it is funny seeing people throw "random" in the mix though.

i dont know. i dont see any reason to get angry over it. if
you dont like him, go ahead and hate him but dont us
bullshitty arguments that get people riled up. nobody likes
that. unless of course someone likes acting like a dick.
then its ok i guess.

ive liked things venetian snares has done in the past, also
completely dismissed things. it goes pretty much both ways.
but im not going to go around yelling "random" and "rip off"
at people because its stupid.

Venetian Snares is just a random rip-off.

I agree with disasemble but,

my point is more that all music is just opinion. There's
nothing inherently good or bad about music - it's all a
matter of personal taste - whether you like Squarepusher,
Venetian Snares or Britney Spears.

Nobody has called Squarepusher and originator of using the
Amen break...just that VSnores rips his particular style
off...and not just squarepushers...he doesn't seem to have
ever done anything original in his career. Always one step
behind. Also I don't think I have heard one thing from
snores that I would class a jazzy so I dunno where you get
that comparison from.

By using the word random I think it is used more in the
sense of unstructured rather than totally random. It's a
few minutes of fast beats that never really groove.

The only person who appears angry at the moment is
yourself.

Good day

Jazzy - try Moonglow/This Bitter Earth

I don't care who 'rips' off who? Fuck Elvis ripped early
R&B, Beatles ripped off Bob Dylan's lyrical style, Aphex
ripped off Eno, etc., etc.

he has plenty of jazzy moments. listen to badmitton/edgewood
park or whatever that is. very jazz influenced. he also has
a lot of free jazz moments in songs on doll doll doll. and
various others.

i agree with the fast thing. things fly by too fast, theres
nothing grounded. i dont like that part of his music, theres
nothing to grasp. just very fractured and chaotic. though
its not like this all the time.

am i angry because im using swear words? or was it my tone
of voice? grow up. i didnt point fingers at anyone here, and
now you are to me. i was stating that people get angry about
these things and take it personal when they shouldnt.

I didn't say that Squarepusher invented anything. They dont
sound similar but its the next closest thing. ANYWAYS I dont
give a fuck about people ripping off other people. I'm just
saying that Vsnares style has worn itself out and its just
annoying now. Overrated. All his shit is starting to sound
the same. Its getting trite and boring. Lacks emotion, tries
to hard... etc etc.
Of course someone had to explore that 'territory' of music,
but he just stays there and doesn't move around and I'm
tired of watching him go nowhere.

used to type on their face.

All the snares I've heard (and I probably haven't heard
enough, but what I have heard is not good enough to warrant
me wanting to hear more) is pretty much talentless wank, as
someone else put it. I guess some of you have a pretty large
grey area between music and jumbled sound effects.

so you hate their music, but don't think that it sucks?
strange opinion you've got yourself there. btw, plaid could
shit all over vsnares with a buttplug the size of texas
locked in tight.

I think snares is the most structured un-random sounding
music I've heard. If you can't count to 7, 9 or 13 you can't
groove to his beats. I find most of his melodies very
evocative. But then I am half spanish. At least I'm not a
scouser, just a spick.

So he's unoriginal is he?

Squarepusher has been doing the same fucking thing for years
(with the same breaks no less) and yet when Ultravisitor
leaked half the people on the board were all over it. But I
don't mind that. Like what you like. Just because it sounds
boring to you doesn't mean the next man feels the same.

I haven't heard Ultravisitor, and bashing Squarepusher
doesn't make a good defense for Vsnares, so lets stop
mentioning Tom, shall we?

Snares can't even groove in 4/4 let alone 7/8.

When Snares does something like Music Is Rotted One Note you
can come back with that arguement.

deforrest why would I want to count while I am listenening
to music. As you see above my problem with snares is down
to allowing the beats to groove, which, whatever way you
look at it he doesn't.

You're right the topic has got stupid now because you Snores
lovers are trying to defend the indefensible.

I've said before, I don't think much of him musically, but
he gives the kids what they want, and for some that is all
that matters.

I like Feed Me Weird Things and Music Is Rotted One Note
more than anything Snares has released.

if we're gonna pit vsnares vs. squarepusher (which is pretty
shitty to do) chocolate wheelchair and higgins ultrafunk
whatever, rip go plastic's pants off. stuff like tracks 3
and 7 at least on that album at least. vsnares has a bit
more angst and rock influence than squarepusher, enough
that i don't think comparing them directly is fair. there's
more elements of the cheesy hardcore like panacea in there.

vsnares isn't a rip off in my opinion because he has his own
trademarks, like "note, note, note (minor)" basslines. also
he tends to incorporate a variety of bassdrum and snare
sounds in any one sequence. don't fucking compare how great
they are melodically, and what the fuck are you doing
comparing snares to music is rotted one note. i don't think
squarepusher is going to put out a dark ambient album, just
like snares isn't going to put out a free jazz album.

No body compared Music Is Rotted to anything of Snares...I
was just using it as an example of the greater dirversity in
Squarepushers work.

The major difference is that Tom could put out a dark
ambience drill album where as Snares couldn't do a free jazz
album.
