i can see how it can go both ways tho...one one hand it seems a bit overly romantic, cuz usually things probably wouldn't go that way, but two would just hang out together and have some fun in the city...on the other hand, perhaps there are some people that really are romantic souls, like me haha.

You don't really have an argument, you're talking shit on a messageboard. Maybe you should tell your friends (if you have any) why you deem things not worthy of your attention.

Why are you flaming me? All you said was that you wouldn't put a reference to Diaz in your film. Can you share the films you're going to make or planning to make? You sound really interesting, tell us a brief outline of the film you'ld make so I can have a bit more faith in you.

Please read my second post in the thread. And I said "if" I was making a movie. It's fine that you don't agree with what I'm saying, but there is no need to resort to this bickering.

I really recognize the feeling of after a long relationship suddenly finding out that its easier to speak to a person you only known for 5 minutes. And being surrounded by another culture makes me more sensitive to a lot of things, I can only recommend it, although lonelyness is a big part of it! Lost in translation is great, and the girl, whatever she is called, is so cute I could just die looking at her.

i saw this on tues.
i thought it was good. not great. it never really blew my socks off, but it was good.
seemed a little pretentious at times. like, artsy for the sake of being artsy. not that that's always bad.
i pretty much agree with mimi, 'cept i still enjoyed the film.

which adapts to normal (as in: not widescreen) tv's - so you get the letterbox effect.

i doesnt matter what he said to her at the end. if theyd actually written spoken dialogue for that it would have come across as crass + would have dated the film really quickly.
it was something said between two characters. interesting, i thought, that the camera only allowed us to intrude on their lives up to a certain point.
i just wish the hacks writing for nasty tabloid rags + the reprobates hosting the oscars coverage wouldnt turn it into such an issue..
"what did he say?" "what did he say?"
its like the suitcase in pulp fiction - we're never going to know.
we don't need to know. let it be.. people who don't understand which questions need answering and which are better left a mystery worry me.
its like the old analogy of the flower. if you dissect it to see what makes it beautiful, then it will never hold the beauty it did originally.

Nope. I think you kinda missed the point there. I love the way you don't hear that exchange. It's obvious that they'll never meet again. She loves her husband and he loves his family despites the ups and downs.
It was nice that Sofia didn't fall into the obvious 'cliche' of making things work out for them. For a minute I thought she would wreak it all by hinting on adultery on the part of the husband (with the airhead movie star) but thankfully she steered clear of such cheap and obvious 'conventions'. I just saw it for the 3rd time with my own Sophia (who has moved in with me here after 6months of long distance WOOHOO :) and I loved it just as much as the first time.
