Anyone else here into keeping their sample library nice and
in order?

It seems kind of anal, and it is a bit of an effort... but
in the long run, its very benifical.

Right now Im sorting my drum samples.

Samples> Drums> Kick/Snare/HiHat etc> Acoustic/Electronic>
Single Hits/Multi Velocity Hits

Gonna do it for the rest of my samples when I get the time
as well...

Its just really convenient. Sure, it takes alot of time to
do at first... but once its done, its quick to add new
samples, and when you are writting a track, and you got
momentum going, you dont want to have to sit there,
previewing ever sound until you find what you are looking
for. You can just be like "ok, I want an acoustic hihat
sound" and click click, theres all your acoustic hihat
sounds to pick from.

Im also probably going to listen to all the samples (several
thousand! :-\) and name them, with a brief description of
their sound.

Yeah. Anyone else as anal as me? :-D

All my samples are in the following format.

untitled1.wav
untitled2.wav
...
untitled[n].wav
untitled[n+1].wav

so basically I can never find a thing I want :D

Also I have samples all over the place so I have about 6
untitled.wav's lying around.

all mine are sorted. it's helpful, but at the same time it
takes an element of surprise away from the creative
process...

yeah, Ill label somelike that...

but Ill have it in a corresponding folder. (ie, it can sound
like that... but either be a SFX, or a Synth, or a drum
hit... so ill put it in a corresponding folder, so at least
I have some clue to what it is)
