I didn't see it. I'm a sad and lonely soul, but one who still has enough pride not to go to the cinema alone.

It wasn't that bad. The first matrix wasnt exactly an oscar contender, either. I think of the films as showpieces for high-tech cinematic effects, which they do very well.

Reloaded was disappointing to me after the novelty of the first film wore off. I never thought it would work as a trilogy, but they seem to think it will.

I agree. It was a fad, nothing more than just a popular blockbuster.

I'll end up seeing Revolutions though, another excuse to go to the cinema with my girlfriend :D

i'm afraid they may've painted themselves into a corner with the plot. like, there's absolutely no way for the audience or the characters to know if they're ever truly out of the matrix now, so why bother fighting?

but, if the w. bros are able to reconcile that issue nicely in revolutions i think it'll all be worthwhile.

they introduced a whole grip of characters in reloaded that will be important in the third film. i think they'll tie up a lot of loose ends with them that will make reloaded a better film in retrospect.

to sum it up for me:
the highlights of Matrix were mostly the special effects... the few highlights of Reloaded were the scenes who became funny because of too much ridicule.

i agree with everything said in this thread.
most of my friends loved the film when they first saw it. i told them to wait 5 months and see if they still feel the same way.

  they don't.

Like to forget it actually. One of the worst movies of all time. Unintentionally it was actually very funny in parts. In fact I couldn't help myself laughing at some of the very 'serious' scenes.

It's a shame really cos it has some interesting ideas despite that fact that it's yet another re-hash of solipsism wrapped in ripped-off ideas from dark-city, pkd, 13th floor and many other better films/works. Maybe if they trashed all the "Wowwww Coool" parts it might be worth seeing...

I remember seeing the trailer for Matrix reloaded and thinking...."this is going to be cool as fuck!"
maybe that added to the overall disappointment of the shit movie it really was.

that's what DivXs are for. Anyone seen Ghost ship. I downloaded it recently. Shit film but there's this scene where all the people dancing on the deck get sliced in two in one go and then slowly the halves fall apart and I almost threw up. ew.

"the matrix" was okay - an action flick, not much more.
"reloaded" was a bunch of trite crap.
I wanted to take my brain out and wash it thoroughly with bleach.

hmm. The movie itself is an interesting idea. Basically its just rehashed religion anyway you slice it up.

The effects work on the first movie were ground breaking at the time, and pretty cool. but now its just been over used. The new movies haven't done much to really blow my mind in terms of visual effects...like they claimed they would have.

The other thing i dislike about the series is the way its been marketed. In order to truly understand what exactly is going on in the sequals you have to at least view the animatrix, and play the videogame which has additional footage (hours worth shot just for the game?)

Thats great for warnerbrothers. more money in the bank. but for a casual viewer that just wants to see the flick, thats a pain in the balls. Before seeing reloaded, i didn't play the game or see the animatrix. so there were characters and things that i didn't understand. so it was like...duuuuuuuuh did i miss somethin cleatus?

The actual movie 'reloaded' was okay. i liked the twins and the big car chase. the fighting and gun fights are getting very lame. Although i should really talk shit until i see the finale. But since i already know the ending i guess i can bitch before hand. all i can say is. its fun, it just sucks seeing 20000000 stupid comercials, and product placement in the movie, and the game too.

i love the matrix movies. you can't watch these movies and like them for the same reasons you like flicks like solaris or pi. these kind of movies are great for the same reason terminator 2 kicks ass. all he's doing is riding a motorcycle and shooting shit with a shotgun. do people get all elitist and say terminator 2 is too "dumb and poorly acted"? (which it is, but still awesome)

i say let the third one come out, give the whole series 5 years to let all the media hype die down, then form an opinion.

hype does horrible things for opinions. :(

every time i see reloaded, i want to see revolutions even more. sure there are parts of it i didn't think were necessary, but that film did everything it was meant to do. that being: kick ass, blow shit up, drive fast and blow shit up. anything after that is just frosting on the cake.

I'm curious to see how many of you anti-matrix people go see revolutions anyway.

i understand if you liked the 1st and that prompted you to see the second. but if you go watch the 3rd one and still talk shit, you should have fuckin' better known better.

that's an excellent point zeus.
there is always something to be said about a movie that stirrs up this much hatred. any film that can provoke audiences to participate in endless internet quarrels has done something right.

ATTENTION!!!!!!
If you and your friends are bored and are looking for something to do, here's something to kill somtime. Watch the MATRIX 1 on mute or low to no volume. and dub the characters yourselves. MAKE SURE you dub keanu reaves with a surfer accent and say "woahhhh" atleast 5 times per minute.

On another note: I loved the first film and although only seeing it once, loved the 2nd aswell. I am very excited about the 3rd film. I must admit tho 2nd was alot worse than the 1st, but cool non the less.

personally, I like it.
Sure, when I first saw the Matrix, I thought "thats a damn clever plot!" but after awhile... you realize, the real reason you liked it, was because its a fucking slick and stylish action movie.

No one goes "oh, lets go watch the matrix, so we can ponder life as we know it"

people go "lets watch the matrix... I feel like seeing trinity spin in the air" or whatever.

If you guys are so damn worried about the philosophy, go read a book by a famous philosopher.

Dont bitch thats its not in a hollywood movie.
