If any of you have heard the new AFX track on the upcoming
"Rephlexions" compilation...

WHAT is that song he remixes?! The track is called "Mangle
11 (Circuit Vent VIP Mix)" but I know it's a remix of
another song. I think it's a VSnares song...

Anybody have a better memory than I do? I've been listening
to different CDs for almost two hours trying to figure this
out!

its obviously just a mix of one of his unreleased tracks -
an alternate version of a track he previously made - but
hasnt released

No no, I've definitely heard it before. Those bass
accents... and the strange glitch noises. I've heard them...
somewhere!

ok ok.. let me answer that question with another question
what track is tamphex (headphuq mix) a remix of?

It's a remix of a british tv commercial, a tampon
advertisement.

But I doubt this commercial was called 'Tamphex'.

so by that rationale, Mangle 11 is a british tv commercial
about manpons?

Nope. I don't think there has been any British
advertisements for Daddies Nappies.

Hey y'all. I figured it out. Listening to Autechre's 'Draft
7.30' this morning and what happened to come on but "Tapr."
Track 4. Listen. That's what Mangle 11 is a remix of.

offline Mezher on 2003-10-04 10:51 [#00889045]

when he released the drukqs 2 track promo there were
alternate mixes of the track - 54 Cymru Beatd [Argonaut Mix]
and Cock 10 [Delco Freedom Mix]...this kind of weird naming
of mixes of his own tracks is just something he does

haha, mangle 11 is NOT a remix of tapr.
it's just an aphex track. a different version of a track
called "mangle 11" which was never released.

it's actually an amalgam of different elements of drukqs
songs reappropriated.. or the reverse

Listen to Tapr. Listen to Mangle 11. If those aren't the
same sounds I'll give you money.

it's not. the sounds may be similar but you could say that
about millions of songs.
in this case, they are completely unrelated.

offline Matthew Aaron from Harwich (United States) on 2003-10-04 12:54 [#00889206]

You cannot say that the sounds in the background of
Mangle 11 and the main musical phrase in Tapr are different.
I will argue this to the death.

offline horsefactory from 💠 (United Kingdom) on 2003-10-04 12:58 [#00889212]
Points: 14867 Status: Regular

I can see what you mean, they sound slightly similar
perhaps, but I assure you mangle 11 is NOT a remix of tapr.

the idea of aphex twin remixing an autechre track for a
compilation outlining the history of the completely
un-autechre-related rephlex records is stupid.

-thats the funniest thing I've read all day
I got a question though, theres a version on slsk that is
3:03, which seems a bit short for a Drukqs track/throwaway.
Anyone know if thats the total running time? Does sound
like it has an æ synth in there and I like that
