Well El Mariachi and Desperado are pretty tough to beat.
Besides Rodrigez has directed some pretty shody movies
aswell I believe.

well, the plot was all over the shot. Johnny Depp was good,
but there was too much focus on Antonio Banderas who just
wandered around, mumbling and shooting random people, whilst
playing a Spanish guitar. And Enrique E-Double_glesias was
in it too and was as wooden as an Ikea wardrobe.

Add a bit of confusing fidels saga plot stuff, some
Willem Defoe getting his face removed and then getting
killed and what you have is one head-scratching confusing
movie.

It was entertaining if you like violence, but to be
honest the body count was so high that seeing another guy
getting shot didn`t provoke any kind of reaction whatsoever,
which is always a bad sign. Still, Johnny Depp does a good
turn as a corrupt CIA agent.

On a plus side, I just saw Pirates of the Caribbean which
was fantastic. Yet another Depp classic. :D

There ya go. theres your goddamn review you bawbag!

thanks, i wasn't really sure what to think about it... but
its real violent so i'll still go and watch it :)

I was watching Dead Man (another amazing Depp flick) tonight
with my g/f...
I didn't even realize that Neil Young does the entire
soundtrack.

Yeah. And Depp plays guitar on it too! He's a great
guitarist yaknow.

I've yet to see that film. thanks for the reminder :)

i liked the movie.....it was in the robert rodriguez
tradition of MEGA over the top violence, mariachi moosique,
and ANTONIO......ahhhhh

i found it interesting it was filmed 3 years ago and only
JUST released. perhaps because of Depp's turn as ze pirate
made such waves? dunno, but he is DEFINATELY back and i'm
glad to see it. great comic timing and a great actor all
around.

i loved the music....Sands Theme was composed by Depp
himself. i ordered the soundtrack, i should have it next
week.

it's not a great piece of film, however it IS entertaining!

Now Underworld does look like shite. I must admit Kate
Winslet just doesn't appear convincing at all. Real shoddy
'i am actor don't you know' type acting. Not sure about that
movie at all.

i really liked "once upon a time...", and i saw it twice
last weekend. i liked it better the second time i saw it.
I don't think it's better than desperado on a purely action
level, but otherwise, i thought is was a bit more epic.
eh, i heard mixed reviews coming from the rest of the
audience..

kate winslet is not in underworld.
though i agree it looks crap.

she is not in the movie much.

but even though she is not to scantily clad, she is still a
knock-out.

i agree it was a little confusing, overall the movie was
poorly edited. but i think that's why i liked it more the
second time, it just made more sense. [SPOILERS]
I liked the story however. a vengefull, ruthless killer
who's actions are almost justified by his mexican patriotism
and his devotion to his slain love and daughter. He is
noble, killing not exclusively for his own revenge, but also
for that of the mexican people. Of course the idea of the
"hitman with the heart of gold" is by no means new. But the
Rodriguez perspective make it seem fresh and original.

Another thing i like about it is that it is told like a
legend, like a fable. Cheech Marin admits in a scene with
J. Depp that the story "may have picked up a few
embellishments." In fact, the entire movie tells like the
kind of story that gets better every time somebody tells it.

yeh, the more i think about it, the more i want to see it a
3rd time.

Yes.

It was like watching a comic book. The action was almost too
ridiculous, but that's what I enjoyed about it.

Fun & funny. Johnny was great.
