it's christian tradition, and, since I'm not a christian, why would I celebrate it?
that's not really the reason I hate it, but it's one of the reasons why I don't feel like celebrating it.. the hate part goes a bit deeper.

I like it. Im not a religious person by any means, but I like spending time with my friends from back home and seeing my folks.
I have a pub-crawl with my friends on Xmas Eve every year which is great fun. Then we go out somewhere cool on New Years too. I like this time of year.

"it's christian tradition, and, since I'm not a christian, why would I celebrate it?"
> makes sense, but.... who cares? ^^;
anyway nowadays it's more about commercial, gifts, christmas trees, star-shaped lights in the streets etc. than the birth of jesus (even though it's that in the beginning... and even so... it's an arbitrary date, chosen because it was also a pagan day for celebrating the sun or something...)!

I'm looking forward to it :)
I'm going down the pub with my Mum and Dad. We'll have some food there, get drunk then wander back to the house and just sit around drinking some more. Then my Sister is coming round Boxing Day and we'll have a nice meal and that's about it.
Probably go out on the piss with my mates at some points too. Nice.

do you celebrate ramadan for instance? I bet you don't, because it's an islamic tradition, so why the hell would you?
why celebrate something you don't believe in?

my typical xmas day
Get up early, down the pub with family at about 11am, back to my mum's to open loads of prezzies, have dinner bout 2ish, eat till I can't move and all my new clothes don't fit anymore, drink more, eat sweets, go over to yavo's mum's, open more prezzies, eat more, drink more, play games with his sisters, go over my dad's house, eat more, drink more, go home with 3 trays worth of leftovers, drink more, eat more, sleep for a week

be honest....who actually remembers the Biblical background of xmas?
I am not Christian either (I'm an atheist), still I celebrate X-mas....but that has more to do with the overall atmosphere, food, being together with people you care about (and presents as well...)
So, do you really think you have to be Christian or at least believe and remember the story behind xmas to enjoy it?

do I?
or do I because it is part of my growing up and my childhood and I actually like thinking back about those times round christmas?
I don't have to have any reason to celebrate it - it's personal.
I'm saying that being against christmas because it came forth from christianity and you can't believe people have their own reasons for celebrating, is just as much a doctrine.

Just a quick question...
How many of you that celebrate christmas goto church on or around xmas?
Most people i know never enter a church but still celebrate this christian tradition.
Christmas is about the only time i go to church, this is to keep my grandparents happy while they are alive.
