Dear Grandma Maggie: My husband is in the United States Army, and I am very proud of him. He works harder than most people I know, and when he comes home, nothing makes him happier than to rub my well over-filled belly and ask how my day was. I am confident he will be a great daddy! However, he recently received some disturbing news that he will be deployed overseas shortly after the baby is born. You can only imagine how much this tore him up. He will be going on a peace keeping mission and will not return for six months to a year. My question is how do I make him realize that it's better for him to be going now, rather than when the baby is getting to recognize faces and people? He thinks that the baby will not know who he is, and feels like he'll be missing some of the best moments in his child's life.
