...a dream come true!

Last thursday, I visited the Guggenheim museum in Bilbao.
-finally-
I've been wanting to see this building since I saw some
pictures a few years ago.
Two weeks ago, we decided ,with some friends, to go surfing
in Zarautz, Spain.
I can't surf( I did a nice try), but when I heard it was
near to Bilbao, I had to go with them.
We did two hours of train to get there from Zarautz. (and
two hours back!)

A few moments after we got of the train, I had eyecontact
with my loved glass and titanium building.
The feeling I got , I can't describe...
Happy, I know I was making a dream come true.
but also a bit of a disappointment, cos a big part is built
under a bridge, which is a shame.
Luckily, there's plenty of other spots to watch and enjoy
the building without seeing this bridge (ON the bridge, for
example)
I walked around it twice, saw the sun breaking through the
clouds and play with the titanium.
Then I entered. Futuristic is the least I can say about the
interior, and that is how I felt too.
I felt like I arrived in the year 2500.
The way the glass elevator is put in the building is
breathtaking! (like the rest of the building)
Pity the third floor was closed because they were building
up a new exhibition, I'll have to go back sometime, and I
WILL!

anyways... I'm just so happy that I reached what I wanted,
that I want to tell you guys.

The building is nice, but from the pictures, it doesn't seem
to blend well into its environment...

I know!
I even thought of you when I was there!
It was you who told me who the architect was.
In meanwhile, Frank O. Gehry is one of my favourite artists
and some kind of personal hero.
I look at him as a sculptor and not really as an architect.
(like I look at most architects)

Hehe..I just looked for some pics, so people know what I'm
talking about.
I tried to make some decent pics inside, but those security
guards were all over the place.
I almost shit my pants in the elevator,I was taking my
camera while one of 'em walked in... to tell me the third
floor was closed.. =o)
Anyways.. I made the pics with a friend's cam, it'll take a
few days before I can put them online, but I'll do my best!

I've allways been interested in art and
architecture, even studied arch one year.

my interest in this building....
I think it's so fascinating because it looks very unique.
I've never seen anything that even comes close to looking
like this.
so futuristic and abstract.
It's amazing to see what kind of crazy things people can
do..
I think this building looks almost surreal and that's why
it's so interesting, because it IS REAL!
when I was staring at it, I thought " you are looking to
something impossible here" ...and I touched the impossible.
=o)
