If you can get Sony MDR-7506es for your money, snap up a
pair. They're pretty much the only good Sonys and they're
excellent - very faithful reproduction, not at all fatiguing
to listen to for long periods, just maybe not with the
"staging" you'd get with the high end Sennheisers or Grados.
I listened to some very expensive Grados once and it was
like someone built a concert hall in my head - unbelievable.
Unfortunately the cheaper Grados are not as nice - a little
too peaky in the high end for my ears.

by the way, a really good headphone test is to play toe tac
tic by crunch through them... I found that for some reason,
that song's clicks at the beginning really accentuate a
headphones flaws if it has any. Oddly, the cheapest little
sony's I believe had the best sound.

grados and I assume sennheisers as well need to be broken in
for about 25 hours before they start performing right, so
they may sound funky or crappy before then

just a small tip

GRADO LABS

once you buy a pair you'll never go back.

Or if you want something for a smaller budget, audiophile
mags and websites have and will continue to rave about the
KOSS Portapro.
