Psychologist needed for a madman

*heavy sigh* .........Life is depressing. I was thinking
about my flat mate earlier & all the stuff he gets up to in
an average day & the fact that he has loads of mates that he
sees on a regular basis, then I thought about how I hardly
do anything in a day apart from make half finnished tunes &
listen to music. I no longer have any real mates since I
moved from the country to town to live with my girlfriend of
four years..........I think the reason I don't have mates is
because I live very much within myself & am naturally on a
lower level than most, this makes it difficult to get on
with the average person. I honestly don't even know wether I
should be bothered by being different from the average
person, it's just that I know nobody who is like me or who
even has the same interests as me. All my old mates are
getting on with thier "normal" lives & I am just not
interested in the way society works, but I do worry about
what may lie ahead if I follow my current coarse.
Am I some kind of freak because I like to shut myself off in
my own little world with my music?
I don't know anymore, these kind of questions constantly
complicate my mind........don't even get me started on my
upbringing 8S

I listen to the Beatles & I hear thier words of wisdom but I
cant help believing that I have been fucked out of a
childhood & feel like a large part of me has been killed &
now I cannot become the man inside that I know I should be &
all hrough the childlike cruelty of a so called adult, I can
actually understand how people can go full time insane as I
am getting there myself.

I cant believe I've expossed myself at my weakest on a
public msg board. Be gentle

you an' me both, buddy. hehe.

i'm currently working out the same thing (or something
similar, anyways). i moved to canada from utah and
haven't done much aside from working and sitting on my ass
in front of this computer (mostly at this mb, too). =P

i figure that eventually something'll come up to make things
interesting. i'm trying not to worry too much about "the big
picture" and just take it one step at a time. something i've
always done, and it's been known to get me into trouble as
i'm 100% incapable of planning ahead. anyways...i have no
idea what to tell you, nothing helpful to contribute,
really...but know that you're not alone. heh. =]

Also I have a fearr of being 'orrdinarry' and I avoid it by
not commiting myself to anything. It's so stupid, but i
can't help it.

Sounds like we're in the same boat in some ways!
The thing is, I know that if I start smoking weed again I'll
get myself together and do normal things again, but for now
I really just want to concentrate on my music... I remember
when I used to go out every day, go to raves and parties
every weekend, I'd end up just as bored and frustrated cos
you get used to anything you do for too long - It's good to
go through phases I've realised... But yeah, the reason I do
music is so I can stay young and irresponsible for as long
as possible.
It scares me to think of joining the ranks of the "sensible"
adult population - I think I'd rather go against the grain
on that one and just be a struggling artist for ever!

i can't remember a time in my life when i was as content as
i am now.. i suppose how i got here was by just
appreciating life itself and by utilizing every moment of my
free time for doing things i love to do. If something is
upsetting me i recognize the cause of the disturbance and
remove it completely from my life. Sometimes this takes
some humility but in the end it is worth it.

I'm not saying this will work for everyone but the point is,
i have had to make a concentrated effort to balance my own
life because most likely, it would not have happened on it's
own.

1) Obtaining knowledge about what emotions and people
really are at their most fundamental level helps.
Just knowing stuff helps... I probably read more than an
average person and from what I learned so far there's no
intended purpose in life, and no morality (that isn't
artificial), and no afterlife consequences.

2) retreating into fantasy helps. This is probably easier to
do with videogames than ever before in human history, aside
from crazy mental illnesses perhaps..

(WARNING THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE IS SERIOUS!!!)
sir, just be grateful for what you've got so far, your
music, girlfriend, etc..
having just that won't turn you insane..
you'll get more friends down the road, no matter what,
unless you're some kind of antisocial freak.. but, hey
that's what the internet is for.. at least you've got a life
where you can do something you love (create music) and also
have someone to share that life with.
(WARNING THE PRECEDING MESSAGE IS SERIOUS!!!)

If you have lived somewhere comfortably and then all of a
sudden live somewhere completely different then it's going
to be hard to adjust to. If you're a generally shy,
introvert person then it's obviously going to take you a
long time to make new mates etc. but if you've managed to
get yourself a girl and you had mates where you lived
previously then surely there is nothing wrong with you. Just
give it time. Try not to look at things in the bigger
picture. That will probably just depress you more. Take each
day as it comes. Be yourself otherwise people will think
you're a dickhead that's trying too hard and won't want to
have anything to do with you. Don't worry about it.
Everything will work out for you in the long run. Who gives
a shit if what you do isn't "normal"? As long as it is
honestly something that you enjoy doing then it will make
you happy. Good luck and don't stress xx

Oh and by the way don't try and look for some kind of
miracle It's going to take a while, yeah. But if it's
something you really want then it will work out ok. Stop
tormenting yourself and the pain will fade.xx

Life sucks and I envy the dead, but I hate to see a fellow
Beatle listener be sad, so here's a picture of Paul
McCartney and John Lennon arm wrestling to make you feel
better.
