I have never heard that expression. I have heard 'putting all your eggs in one basket', which means if you invest all your 'whatever' into just one thing, you're liable to come a cropper and lose it all. Or there is 'too many cooks spoil the broth' which means that if there are too many of you doing the one thing together, it's liable to fuck-up through crowding and confusion -- these are very loose marlowe definitions I remind ye.
