just saw a pretty fascinating TV program on TLC about Urban Legends, some of which i've heard, some not! the program stated that the more specific details, the more likely the Legend is to be believed. thats why some last for decades....and many people who hear them believe them to be true....and SOME are rooted in fact. =o)
what is the strangest one you've heard?!?!?
the ODDEST one i heard this evening which includes what most expert believe to be the GREATEST phobia, the fear of SNAKES!
a woman goes to Burlington Coat Factory and tries on a coat and gets bitten by BABY SNAKES which have hatched in the coat, in the legend the patron usually dies, but sometimes they live and sue the store. ehhehehe
anyone heard this one?

don't remember that one about the snakes, but i saw most of that program and it was pretty interesting.
you really have to wonder about the accuracy of most of those stories though.. many of them are about leading companies/places of business, so it would be very likely that a competitor started those rumors to scare away customers..

ohhhh really!
i'm glad cos i'll be sure to watch out for when it comes on again.
it was a story on this episode -
a woman rushes her dog to a vet cos he seems to be choking. the vet tells her she needs to operate and tells the woman to go home and check for what he might have eaten. on the operating table the doctor finds THREE human fingers in the dogs throat. she calls the owner and tells her there may be someone in her house. the owner calls the police and they find the burgler LESS three fingers in her closet. THIS WAS A FAKE URBAN LEGEND! =0)

on the show was this professor of folklore who talked a lot about why specific elements are included in urban legends......it plays upon our FEARS, race fears, phobia's, and the like.....it's really interesting how they get started and perpetuated throughout the world.
i wanna hear some EUROPEAN urban legends

i dont know if this is true but its good anyway
once there was this woman in the us who bought a lobster for sexual pleasure
as the tale goes she put the lobster in her pussy tail first and the lobster tried to fight this and in doing so thrashes it tail violently and gives the woman pleasure
now a few days later she fell ill with stomach pains and a few days after that she was found dead on her toilet
apparently what killed her was the lobster larve (spelling) hatching in her vagina and tearing up inside because the lobster shot out all of its unborn eggs during the whole pussy moment
when the police turned up there was hundreds of little lobsters in the toilet and a few of the officers threw their gut up
hope that read well :D

urban legend tells of a man, a fat bearded man, with a fetish for happy children. This man, so the story goes, waits untill late at night, in the winter and breaks into the homes of sleeping children. He enters through the smokestack carrying a large burlap sack full of suspicious packages. some of these packages he stuffs into the socks of the sleeping children. then he leaves, again through the smokestack, not to return untill the same night the very next year.
In some versions of this legend, he flies around in a red cart pulled by ruminent mammals. In other versions, he rides a magic canoe.
