ambient track for your third eye

since i was apparently too late for the xltronic vibes
comp, maybe you'd like to hear the track that i submitted
too late. the title and location are:

weathered plateau

as usual, i'd like to hear your thoughts, especially if
you've heard the xltronic mix (for some reason the lofi
stream isn't working for me). this track is totally
different from anything i've posted yet...

Very nice! But the insistent steady insect noise in the
first half is annoying. It's like an alarm clock. Needs to
be lower or have more variation or both. I'm glad it fades
out and you start to vary your insect orchestra halfway
through.

What musicians, books, chemicals, experiences, movies or
mineral formations inspired it?

if you flail your arms wildly the buzzing will diminish
significantly. yes, most people don't like loud buzzing
insects. but i didn't realize that most people were not
like me until after i finished the track.

it all began when i ran my finger along the windowsill and
came up with a grey smudge of dust on the end of my finger.
as i looked closer, i looked closer and closer. and then
suddenly it was five minutes earlier. all things pivot
around one point, generally referred to as now. your
secrets are also your lies. and then the lambent curtain
separating the world of the living from the world of the
dead is dissolved, and it's time to make an ambient track
for your third eye. so the source of motivation and
inspiration is in all things, and yet it seems shrouded in
mystery. i guess the xltronic vibes angle should be worked
in there somewhere, too, but seeing as how we are deep
within these unfamiliar woods and the sun is beginning to
set we really should find our bearings and head home...

very interesting track you've got here..
i really like the strings/guitar harp sound or whatever it
is, that plays throughout.. very nice.. intriguing and
haunting..
i like the overall eeriness that this track with the
backwards-sounding ghostly wind-gust-like sounds, strange
electronic/radio-like babbling, and i like the insect
chirps, although it's a little distracting, it give the
track a nice touch.. i also found a few of the vocal samples
to be maybe a little too loud/distracting from the overall
subdued, calm, eerie-kinda vibe this track has, but i still
loved it..
keep up the great work sir,
immensely enjoyed.

one last trip around th' block. think of listening to this
track as a special favor for someone you like, whoever that
may be. i think you will appreciate the perspective from
this plateau.

hmm.. now that i listen to this some more, with headphones
the voice samples really fit nicely.. i couldn't quite make
out the words before..now i like how they almost neatly and
interestingly interrupt the track in a way..as well as those
cricket chirps.. but i still can't tell what's being said on
the sample near the end of the song.. what does it say, if i
may ask? i know it's not really necessary to know that to
enjoy the song, but i'm just curious.
really nice job.. this track really does not deserve any
negative criticism.

is there any guitar on this track or is it just synth..?

i like it. has a warm summer night kindof feel to it. but at
the same time...in the background...kindof a "warm summer
night...UNTIL" thing going.

...does that make sense?
anyways...i like it. nicely done. heh. =]

thanks very much to everyone who has listened and commented.

the second voice sample says:

"why are you talking so much, [so and so] you never used to
talk so much." followed by [so and so] giggling.

this track has no guitar at all, it's all processed samples
(bassoon). almost every sound in the track is derived from
the bassoon. but you can hear my appreciation for the
guitar in the textures, i think.
