wow... listened to it the first time today. rocked me out
of my socks... wonderful album.

i listened before to tri repetae, confield, amber, basscadet
ep, lp5, garbage.

but somehow i always missed incunabula. until now.

wow i love this album. it's so, hm catchy ! i just can't
stop listening to it. the jazzy samples in song 10 are great
!

wow, my fav for the next few weeks for sure !

Been listening to this and SAW 85-92 when reading. Both
great albums, both producers pushing the equipment to the
limit and drenching it in reverb.

:)

Incunabula seems to be such an innocent thing in comparison
to their later albums! :D

444 is the best here, i agree with eXXalion...a nice closing
track.

Great album, somewhat dated, somewhat cheesy, all of which
adds to the appeal. Great when you're stoned too... although
isn't everything? Red team go, read team go!

Also listen to Crystel and The Egg, they have the same
sound.

They are on the Artificial Intelligence CD from warp

It was back in the day when they were trying to emulate AFX
melodies.

If you like incunabula, check also
B12: electro soma (warp). The sound of incunabula comes from
early b12-releases.

My vote goes to Eggshell as well. The way it just builds up
and layers stuff. Very nice bassline too.

The whole album is great and Lowride has really inspired me
to use sample&hold sounds. It's the blipping stuff that come
after the jazz-piano samples.

The best album by AE IMO. I'm a sucker for that early 90's
sound.

The last 3 tracks: WindWind, Lowride, and 444 are the
highlights and an excellent closing to a terrific album.

Windwind Eggshell and Doctrine blow me away every time. i
took acid on incunabula once and now it's one of my top 3
favorite cds. i don't know if those two comments are
related.

think Doctrine is my fave off there tho.

I've always liked it a lot more than Amber, the ''aged''
production values are endearing to me. Kalpol Introl/Bike
might be my favorite moment in the entire Autechre canon.

i think Amber is much closer to Incunabula than any of their
other works..and i like them much more than any of their
later stuff. i really don't like Confield, Gantz Graf or
Draft 7.3, gasp!!

I've always been very fond of Eggshell and Lowride. I love
Incunabula. I still remember a decade ago popping into
Duchies record store, seeing it on the rack, and picking it
up on a whim, never having heard of them before or anything.
My first ever electronic album. This was at a time in my
life where I was listening to White Zombie and KMFDM every
day.

I know they'd never go back to that ''style'', but it would
be nice to get to hear some other unreleased AE tunes from
that era... nobody did it better.

Artemis is right, Incunabula sounds a lot more like B12 then
it does Aphex Twin.

So, if anything they were trying to emulate B12. And the
end result was amazing.

Its an album of my life- istarted with Ae from thi one - to
this day when i listen to it i have goose skin
like i said before - hole definition of IDM is on this
album, you cant give nothing more to this one , its absolute
border , you cant go further than incunabula
by the way - Incunabula its from Latin, and the meaning of
this word is " childhood time" - its time when baby is
veeery young , months...
i love others from Ae , but this is unbeatable
at least for me

The last 3 tracks are my favorite, most definitely. '444'
is the best AE song to date IMO. There isn't one dull song
on this release....flawless. Best AE too date IMO.

As for Orbital....perhaps they could of? It would had to of
been after the Brown album though, because the released
their first two albums before Incunabula.
