The Old Skool Rules!

Today i sat down and listened to SAW 85-92 and Incanabula
(Spelling?).

My god, they are both amazing. SAW is better than Ae but
it's still a great album. It just seems that they pushed
their hardware to the maximum whereas now it's so much
easier to do things like that with the un-parralell world of
Laptop music.

I thorughly enjoyed it.

yes listening to older idm then listening to what they put
out today, its fun to see how the different artists changed
or challanged themselves and thier listeners

Indeed Thad. Like Autechre: the third track on thier first
album with it's catchy melody. Also at one point there is
even a piano sample in there. It's crazy.

I find the older stuff, like SAW85-92 and Lifeforms and
things, does last me a lot longer than most of the newer
IDM.
I think it's harder to push yourself these days cos there's
no real technical limits to force the best out of you...
That's what I've always thought anyway, sometimes you need
the technical challenge to be original/unique.
