LOTR extended VS normal version

I just saw the extended version yesterday and I loved it...
I think the film is much more understandable this way...
more like the book

is not like there a is a whole new adventure of one hour...
its more like a few more images and conversations every now
and then... it makes the movie a lot better in my opinion

I have the 4 disc version of the first film, waiting for the
4 disc Two Towers - I mean, there's no point buying the 2
disc at all, is there?

i dont like flipping discs... fucks me off :( but good
despite making me get up once in 4 hours... i think the bit
with cate blanchet looks weak...too photoshoppy, which is
probably what they used but it looks very preset or
something...

The normal version was on TV this weekend and I watched
it... I didn't really miss any of the extras, aside from the
longer intro, the bit in the pub and the gift giving. When I
was in the cinema I couldn't wait for the bastard thing to
finish but in the comfort of my own shit-pit I could watch
the whole trilogy in one go.

As long as I had lager. That goes without saying.

the extended version is better I think, but I wouldn't want
to see it in the cinemas, I'd loose interest, wheras at home
you can really get into it

4 hours is not that much... I would love to see it that way
in the cinema... maybe with a rest of 15 minutes like in the
old days with ben hur and those super productions

need to stand up and stretch my legs. The extended version
is very nice.

When I watched the extended Fellowship of the Ring the time
just flew by. It didn't seem like much longer than a regular
100 min film. Until I got to the extra credits that is... I
decided I'd watch them, for some weird reason, and they went
on... and on... and on... and on... and on... and on... and
on... and on... and on... and on... and on... and on... and
on... and on... and on... and on... and on... and on... and
on... and on... and on... and on... and on... and on... and
on... and on... and on... and on... and on... and on... and
on... and on... and on... and on... and on... and on... and
on... and on... and on... and on... and on... and on... and
on... *falls asleep*

haha! you're right. I remember now. I remember lying on my

Then after a bit I thought "christ, they're listing all the
fan club and they've not even got a as far as H yet"

Liv Tyler's character is seen easily defeating nine

THat's bullshit. Orcs were not stolen from fucking

Orcs have been around since the beginning of fantasy.

Gods and Generals was 4+ hours, and there was a 12 minute
intermission in the theater.

That was a great film, long, but not truely noticable.

the extended version of LoTR adds just enough detail to
really fill out the story nicely. gives it a little more
depth.

It's not an entirely bad move to buy the two-disc version
because the extras aren't repeated on the four-disc set.

I bought the 2-disc Fellowship of the ring and later
regretted not waiting to buy the 4-disc. I bought the
extended edition later on, this summer actually. I enjoy
the commentaries and the other extras in the set. Plus with
the film spread across two discs it allows for higher
quality video & audio, since there is more storage space.

I'm waiting to buy the extended version of the Two Towers.

that site is hillarious:

8. Gold: The Stretchy Element.

The ring, which is seen to be at least two inches in
diameter at the beginning to fit the polish sausage-sized
finger of Sauron, suddenly fits Frodo's child-sized finger
later. I guess this movie takes place in a world where rings
magically change sizes on their own.

Is that guy serious or is he just an ignorant jackass?

oh man here is another good one.

this guy is hillarious
Magic Mechanics.

Experts on the occult say in order for a wizard to floorspin
a fully-grown man like Gandalf, he'd need three magical
staffs, not two.

great link Jarworski. it's an entertaining read.

was based on former President Jimmy Carter.

har har. i've almost pissed myself twice reading this list.

I watched the extended Two Towers last night. LOADS of extra
stuff in this, especially at the beginning. Some good
additions, some pointless stuff, overall good job.

Up from 180 mins to 220. There are some nice little things
in there, like right at the start with Frodo and Sam, more
with Aragorn (like finding out his age), plus a longer
flashback sequence with Boromir which reveals more about why
the ring corrupted him. You can see the full list of
additions on a dvd site... although I don't like to look at
'em before I watch the film.

the extended is good, yes.

like how the emphasis shifts towards Aragorn in this version
- how he will be king, how he is a big threat to Sauron.

I really like the flashback scene with Boromir and Faramir
and their nasty father, whatshisname, nice setup for RotK.

also REALLY looking forward to seeing the scenes with Andy
Serkis playing Smeagol actually finding the ring - they shot
it for TTT, but they shifted it to RotK..!
