The beat work isn't bad, but the piano riff playing right
the way through became intensly annoying. Also it wasn't
dark enough nor atmospheric enough to be a horror
track...maybe if you had dropped the repeating piano after
the intro and gone for a darker pad and a bit more texture
it would have worked better.

My comments came across a little too negative then. The
track itself is good enough, it is just the piano really
started to get on my nerves which I think tainted everything
else I had to say :)

Some other people may actually like it...hopefully they will
give it a listen :P

yeah heres hopin, i kinda had halloween soundtrack in my
head which does carry a similar thing with the piano but
changes key, maybe if i changed key with the piano it may
have broken it up a lil but i kept with that and decided to
run with it.

oh and don't be affraid to voice yr opinion, even if you
think its a negative one, music is personal i think so i
don't expect evryone to like my stuff and also i would
prefer criticism becasue it helps 2 improve, gnerally its
hard to distance yrslef from yr own sounds sometimes so i do
appreciatte it.

well i'm goning to post this becuase i just received the
most favourable review of one of sever n am so excited i
could follow through so here it is...

"The piano and the thunderous bass set this track up for a
real scare.
Then the samples and the beats come in. The beats it should
be said
remind me of some of Aphex Twins work, quite well put
together. A very good
coupla scream samples work well to further terrorise the
listener.
There are some great little tricks to be listened to, and if
you like the
darkside this is for you."

well.

hey i just listened to your track.

I would say i like the back-ground parts of this track more
than the piano melody. I like the sequencer tricks, and the
drum programming. and i would guess there is a lot of other
interesting stuff that i could pick up on on repeated
listens but, i find the piano melody to be a bit obnoxious
as the track goes on. I think if you added a couple
accompanying melodies, or fucked up the piano line a bit
more often or just lowered it's level to bring it into the
background a bit more, it would help to make it less
grating. Don't get me wrong though. I think it's cool that
you are stirring some horror into the genre. I am a huge
fan of skinny puppy and i think that what they did for
industrial music needs to be done to IDM. Maybe you are the
person to do it? maybe not? keep pluggin' away, it's the
only way to be certain.

thanks man i appreciate that some kind words and i think yr
right i'm noticing that with this track that something needs
to be done to the piano so i may have a dig, a few people
have said a similar thing and i do really appreciate it, it
helps me improve.
as far as being someone who would be responsible for
injecting something new into idm, i would be very happy if i
was seen as so, and its inspiring to think that someone else
has that view, tho just doing it is satisfying enough,
allthough i don't kid myself in the fact i have a few more
things to learn i hope i never stop learning and this input
helps more than u know.
thanks.

nice one man :)

i like the percussion a lot,
as ecnadniarb said maybe the piano riff gets a bit annoying
after a while.. there's nothing wrong with the riff itself
though, it fits the track well imo but maybe you could make
it sound a little more loud or leave it out at some parts in
the track

still it's good, it's scary 8|
and that's the intention probably :)

i was listening to Scorn's album 'evanescence' today. the
first track, "silver rain fell," uses a looped simple piano
part that does not get annoying. i think it's because it is
used more like a background synth pad upon which the song is
built and it also turns off and on to distinguish song
parts; verse and chorus etc...

a good listen for you i would think if you have not yet
heard it. it came out in 1994 on earache records.
