did anyone go to ockley lastnight? small village in surrey
- went cycling about 8 thismorning to leighhill and caught
the tail end of an allnight rave. got back to the car 2
hours later when the police turned up!! what exactly they
gunna do?

there was another just 3 weeks back really near my house
from 10-8 about 500strong. just wondered if anyone had gone
to em
these people that suffer from having their villages taken
over i dont know whether to feel sorry or laugh at them.
all their gossiping and complaining will make no difference

any opinions on this???

from what jason tells me (manifestevil) he often used to
break into warehouses in bankstown and hold idm parties
inside them until the police came, although he never charged
for them, he just wanted to play in front of an audience and
was sick of waiting for a gig

yeah got involved through prohibited projects, a sydney crew that
has done a few in the past. I have helped do one so far,
played live. managed to find an abondoned boxing kungfu
place that was huge, the room i played in had its own boxing
ring. good gig tho, cops shut us down around 2am because a
neighbour complained.
we have another on the cards, tho this time we know the
woner of the factory, so its not exactly the same, tho there
is no liquor licence, no apra etc.
i'm sure there'l be more, love to do an outdoor party, could
be on the cards.

our first shows (M+D) were at a pub so they were
legal, we just didn't charge cause yeah we just wanted to
play and couldn't get a gig so we put on our own shows.

and yeah M+D and prohib projects allways collaborate now,
legal or illegal, sometimes getting in other crews too like
tribot etc.

i've tried so hard to find gigs - my earlier stuff is
actually quite accessible but lately my music is more and
more about making people break things. I haven't had a gig
in 2 years - sure would love one though.

As for raves, here in DFW the police have been really
cracking down on them. Raving is completed illegalized in
Ft. Worth thanks to some girl at a rave doing 3 hits of
ecstasy and then drinking 4 gallons of water or something in
an hour and her stomach burst - she died obviously.

I went to Zenfest II - big outdoor rave in September 2002 -
it was actually a pretty good party. X-Ecutioners, Spacemen,
Jungle Brothers were there. Uberzone was there too but they
sucked hard. The rave had been almost banned by the county
police, but the promoters took it to court and they won. The
place was CRAWLING with cops though - lots of cops waiting
on the roads outside too. Fucking pigs. It was funny though
because I was rolling BALLS and not a single cop breathed in
my direction - probably cause I stuck with the crowd.

Anyways, it was an all-nighter, I came back and my ENTIRE
body hurt from the roof of my mouth to my legs. I could
barely move for three days. Oh yeah, and threw up that
morning. Fun though.

It was especially cool that I met some Aphex fans there as
well - I was wearing my AFX shirt, at least two guys came up
and chilled with me for a while, and we chatted about IDM.
Surprisingly, I met MC Destroy, who was MC for X-Ecutioners
that night, and Total Eclipse. They came out in the crowd
and just greeted their fans. Eclipse was a bit quiet, but MC
Destroy said - "Dude, you like Aphex Twin? He's badass!" I
was pleasantly surprised. I got a hug and a cool handshake
from Destroy, plus his and Eclipse's autographs! :D

this is why we put on oour own shows oddio, we had no idea
how to, just went for it. and once you have one under yr
belt u can't wait to put on another, i'm actually going to
see a lady who is in charge of booking a venue today about
putting on a show. It's a great thing to be involved in and
a lot easier than you think.

hmmm..... well i know other musicians. I just got a find a
place. I must take into consideration that US Police are a
lot tougher on impromptu shows than other countries,
sadly....

well find a venue, sometimes it can be tough, but they're
out there.
suss out a venue, see if u need a p.a. lighting, pay for
security?, if they charge for the room.
our first show was brilliant because the p.a. was provided
and we didn't have to pay for the hire of the room.
then get yr dates organised, i find roughly a month is a
good time to plan stuff, get things in order, advertise
everywhere, local press, flyers at music shops etc, plaster
the walls, internet etc.
it helps a lot knowing other artists, sometimes that can be
difficult too getting acts to play and also covering the
cost of them.

my friend has been DJing at some poetry readings - says he's
been mostly spinning dub and some of his noise, maybe I
should talk to him....

my last gig was SUPPOSED to be in Arlington at Aja's Place,
but on the day of the gig the girl who owned the place
called me and said her locks had been changed because she
payed her lease with a check and it bounced. I had done a
shitload of spreading too with flyers, told everyone I knew.
It's alright. Everyone I asked didn't show up anyways. :(
