'The Mars Volta - De-Loused In The Comatorium'
so good, I can't even explain it, EVERY SINGLE TRACK on this record is solid, I think this deserved the award for "best album people will probably never hear" there's some insane drumming, some nice epics, and guitar licks that will make you cry, the only way to show you waht it's like is to offer you a track.
if you like it, spread the word, and for fuck sakes BUY THIS ALBUM

it is very good but, "best album people will probably never hear"? a lot of people are buying this, this is a somewhat big seller, seems more people are buying it than sparta's album which is way more accessible...strange.

I dunno. It's alright, but it gets annoying... I listened to Relationship Of Command and In Casino Out last night and I just think ATDI were much better. The best track TMV have done is 'State Your Preference', which isn't even on the album. In fact that track sounds more like ATDI, I dunno who actually recorded it.

anything pre relationship of command is too emo and uninspired for the most part, roc is pure energy, as is the mars volta.

i heard Mars Volta for the first time the other day on Muchmusic, which is odd because I can't stand most music on music tv stations these days. I was quite enthralled by the song, and was surprised to see this post up on the board the same day. It's nice to see some rockers out there who aren't riding the emo, suburbia punk or nu-metal bandwagons. Good stuff. I will get the album once some fundage comes my way.

see...which is funny, because my favorite atdi album is acrobatic tenemant. i think that's their best stuff. and i like sparta even better. *shrugs* they put on a mean live show, too (though it's a shame i've never gotten to see cedric do his thing...).
rocket from the crypt is coming to calgary sometime soon, i believe. i'll be out to see it, of course. =D

posted from this FAQ:
Q: I downloaded a song that doesn't sound at all like Cedric singing. What is this?
A: There is a lot of confusion about what songs are actually The Mars Volta and which aren't. Me, Intial, Bunel Home, Bach Song, Corelli Theme, and Things' Fear are by an Italian electronica band called Mars Volta (without the 'the'). State Your Preference, Eat The Sun and Untitled Demo #2 are all mistitled versions of Cicatriz. On Kazaa you can also find dummy songs such as I Cut My Teeth (by The VSS), Glue In Carpet (by The Locust), and Wasting My Air. However, Ambuletz, although it sounds nothing like all their other songs, is indeed a The Mars Volta song.

well said.
I find the few songs I've heard just to be too overwhealming.
maybe it's just the frequencies, cuz I can listen to VSnares blow my brain with noise, but I can't handle the distorted guitar with the singing.
Perchance I haven't listened enough, but sometimes too much good stuff is too much.

I'm not sure, I might get it again cause thinking about it I didn't give it much effort, but the opening three tracks were drivel and I kinda switched off after that...
Play 'Cicatriz' on the radio. If you mean no obscenities by "clean", that's the way to go. Don't play the album version cause it's 12 minutes long, the demo or whatever is like 5 mins long. And better. And stay away from Inertiatic, it's on MTV2 ALL the time and does my head in...

i couldn't stand it when i listened to it a few weeks ago! Much too hectic. It seems like all the songs want to go in a different direction atleast 3 times a minute :-)
It doesn't become irritating, just boring. In the end i just totally forgot i was listening to it, couldn't get into it at all
The first song, whatever it was called, was okay (but nowhere near as good as anything on Relationship of Command imo), but it all went downhill from there.
