It was a beautiful show. It took place on a pier down on
the waterfront to a sold out audience. 4000 people (i
actually don't know the exact size of the venue but it is
small) attended what will probably prove to be the best show
at that venue this summer. Bjork played a few oldies, like
hyperballad. A few tracks off of vespertine including
Aurora and Pagan Poetry and also a few new traks. The
overall mood of the set was subdued, she opted to play many
low energy songs that showcased her vocal ability. She
broke this up however with a handful of energetic tracks
including ending her set with a frantic chaotic song which i
recognized but do not know the name.
she had a live 6 or 7 piece string section and of course she
had Matmos in house turning out the electronic
accompanyment. Sadly, her female (native american?) back up
choir was not present. A large video screen was used during
several songs showing projections of fascinating visual
trickery. strange aquatic images like jellyfish made out of
human parts swam around in murky blackness. a nice visual
distraction.
She was dressed in a very cute pink puffy gown and she
danced around like a little girl through most of her set.
She played for a little over an hour without an encore. The
lack of an encore was dissappointing. The crowd deffinately
wanted more but I have heard from a semi reliable source
that she was exhausted after the performance and could not
go on.
Overall it was an excellent show and if you are lucky enough
to catch this tour in your town, i recommed it highly.

yeah,
well if you were at the show, which was fantastic, you would
understand why. Imagine, all the people are standing around
after bjork leaves the stage. It is an outdoor concert so
there really isn't much light to turn on. They don't turn
on any music and after 15 minutes, a guy comes out and
starts checking the mic.
"check 1-2 check check 1-2"

people that had started to leave turned around and came back
to the stage when he started checking the mic. All they had
to do was say something like, "sorry, show's over. bjork
cannot go on thanks." and people would have left.

So it was more the stage crew's fault that people got mad.

But I had a great time. excellent show otherwise.. and my
wife bought a cute pink bjork t-shirt.

Did she use fireworks , like she did over here?
and flames on stage! Did she do that?

no they could not do fire works because the pier is made of
wood and it is therefore against fire code to do the
pyrotechnics. infact, we got hollered at by a security guy
for smoking on the pier for the same reason.

in the unlikely event that the pier should burn down, people
would have fallen into puget sound and drowned. or got
eaten by the starfish and giant squid.

they are all crying because she didn't stay 6-7 minutes
longer, she obviously had a reason for not doing the encore.

6-7 minutes? not exactly. from what roadies said as well
as people who have seen other shows on the tour, she cut out
nearly 45 minutes worth of material.

the seattle fire marshall wouldn't let her use fireworks, so
that cut a good chunk of her set out. there is some kind of
noise ordinance because of the outdoor venue, so she
couldn't play as loud as she wanted. the pier insists
(apparently) that artists use their pa rather than their
own. this caused a number of sound problems including mid
range phase cancellation between the monitor mix and house
mix which cuts out vocals. she couldn't hear herself on
stage, as a result she was out of sync with the music on
some songs. she even cursed out the sound system at one
point, "rubbish P.A."

what people are complaining about is the fact that we paid
full price for an incomplete show. tickets after
ticketmaster charge were about sixty-five. if that really
hurt my pocketbook i might be pissed. it didn't so i'm not
moaning. just wish she had played another venue.

yeah, the gorge would have been better.
but some of those people on bjork.com sound like a bunch of
spoiled brats. really, we're lucky she came to seattle at
all. i'd have paid well over $65 to see the same show. my
canadian buddies paid like $100 canadian and didn't feel
cheated.

I've heard from an Icelandic friend that she does a fair bit
of cocaine. I'm not sure what to make of that but if it's
true I'd be very dissappointed - I thought she was above
that sort of stuff...
